Today I finished the Walnut Bench and got it delivered. When it is delivered to me that is when it is finished.

 

 

So it now has four coats of Zinger Seal Coat De-Waxed Shellac and then four Coats of General Finishes Endure-Var Satin finish. No stain, just letting the Walnut stand out.

 

 

The top is divided into three sections and the middle section has a couple of pieces of Walnut Burl I had.

 

 

So today I got it delivered and put into to place below a window in a room with a Pool table. This is the bench to sit on and wait your turn.

 

 

It was going to have a cushion on the top, but after seeing the top they decided not to used the cushion and just use the pillows on the back.

 

 

So for the rest of the weekend we are taking off and just taking a little road trip out of town.

John she was so excited. Loved the grain of the walnut. Wouldn't put a cushion on it. 

John, that is awesome.  I just love the sap wood on it.  I have been working on a Victorian era house here in town this week.  The home has a semi-circular staircase and the newell was loose as was the handrail and about half of the balusters.  The staircase is finished but tomorrow morning I'll be working on the pantry doors.  Also, I spend part of today tearing down my 1947 Unisaw. The arbor bearings have been chirping and I had to strip it to get the right bearings ordered.  The project is posted under the old machinery section.

I'm milling out some maple from lumber I cut on the property a few years back to make a two tiered bookcase

Been making lots of chips with my Hammer JP and the shellix cutterblock.  Love that thing. It tames the snarliest grain

I thought I had a post on the Walnut Bench but realized today I put the finished bench in a Friday post.

someone ask me about it so I bumped this to the top.

 

Nice bench John.  Walnut is such a beautiful wood.
