January 14, 201610 yr Well, I did get the top all nice and spiffy I had forgotened how knotty this thing was....Anyway, time to work on these things.. These brackets will be trashed out. marked a couple lines, bandsaw to cut a 1x6 down into three strips. Jointed the two wider ones.. Went upstairs, and got a couple toys. One was a "Hammerhead" Cordless drill/driver, the other? Called a GEM Mitrebox. The saw worked,.. But was a bit too slow, changed out to a longer saw... 8 ppi crosscut, 26" long. Flat brackets weren't the problem, it was when I sat the board on edge. It take forever with the little saw. Drill press for a few holes, hammerhead to drive a few screws This thing was well beat up....Under neath these are to be the boards cut on edge. They get a screw through and into the leg itself. I think you can see a couple hiding there. had to shorten a few screws. Didn't have short enough ones for either type of bracket. Longer ones were for the leg bracket....couple were too long. Grinder to shorten the long screws. Glue is now cureing up at the joints. Will cut slots to attach the top with, maybe tomorrow? Hoping I have the correct length screws.... couldn't get to my big mitrebox, I guess the wee one will just have to do...
January 14, 201610 yr Author Well, got the top installed onto the base....had to plane the underside of the top, though. It got a wipe down of that SMELLY BLO. Then added the base to the top, using four screws, one into each bracket. Then gave the top a wipe on coat.. It will need a second coat, later....look any better?
