Picked this up at an auction. It is a 7" baldor grinder with what appears to be an aftermarket belt grinding/ sanding attachment labelled Kalamazoo Industries. Takes a 2" x 48" belt. I have never seen a grinder with such an attachment in person and only seen one ( a Rockwell) on the VM site. After some research I discovered that Kalamzoo industires is still in business and still makes this attachment.

Unfortunately I arrived at the auction too late to dig around any boxes to see if the other grinder guard was hiding anywhere.

I  cleaned it up and repainted it up. Only real issue I had is that the belt did not want to track on the centre of the pullies. Fixed that by winding a few layers of electrical tape around the middle of each pulley. Tracks perfectly now. Very handy tool.

I put it on my Delta pedestal until I get my 7" delta up and running then I may change the grinding stone out for a wire wheel.

Gerry,

Very nice grinder/belt sander.

One machine multiple purposes. ;)

Gerry, after all what work, are you ready to sell it? That is a machine I have loved to have for a long time, with a pedestal. Great job Gerry, love it. I think that was a great bonus having the Kalamazoo attachment with it, very unique.

I realize this was recently pulled up from the archives, but what a great piece of machinery...

Hope @GerryinBelleRiver is still doing restorations and maybe will check in and let us know what he's been up to. It's been nearly a year since he was here last.

Trust he's OK?

It would not surprise me at all if the machine was bought new in that configuration. I have a new 2" Kalamazoo sander that came with  a Baldor motor. I like it better then my bench grinder for most jobs. I'll echo what others have said here, nice find.

Not to change the topic but I am still around. Spent most of the year trying to clean up the backlog of unfinished projects. As a result I am way behind in posting my restorations. Hope to catch up and will be posting a rehab of a Logan 922 lathe as soon as I finish it up.

Great to hear from you Gerry and glad to know all is well.

Looking forward to seeing more of your great work here especially since I wasn't around for your earlier work.

You do some beautiful restorations.
