Friday (Late) December 4th, What's on Your Patriot Woodworker Agenda

Featured Replies

Okay, I know I am a day late, it was a busy week and the more I did the further I got behind. So here I am a day late and a dollar short but I am still posting.

The past week I made a few iPad and iPhone stands out of Cherry with a live edge. I would love to take credit for the design, but I saw these in a high end store while I was in Nashville recently and decided to make a few.

They work well for holding your iPad at an angle so you can use it on the desk or in the kitchen. Same of your iPhone.

The small cutout is so you can push the back button on the iPhone or iPad if you sit it in portrait mode. They were selling for $80.00 where I saw them, I don't think I will ask that much.

I also made some pizza peels last week. First I got them cut out and edge glued.

Then it was shaping and putting a bevel on the edge. I struggled with the bevel on the first ones I made but I have found that a horizontal drum sander makes easy work of the bevel.

So last night was the last of our First Friday events until March of next year.

But that doesn't mean we can take a break yet, we still have orders to fill so it will be busy for us thankfully right up to Christmas and we are already starting on next years list.

Hope you all get to spend some time in your shop this weekend. Please post your projects and pictures as we here at TPW love to see all of the wonderful things you are making. I hope you are making progress on your Christmas projects as it seems to be approaching fast this year.

I look forward to seeing your projects posted...

John,

It's the faster I go, the behinder I gets.

Happens to me all the time.

You have had a great "First Friday" season this year and have really spread your wings with more and more stuff. I really like those iPad/iPhone stands. I will have to chat with you about your dimensions for the slot and recess for the button. My wife showed me your photo on Facebook and did the typical wife thing by telling me "You should make some of those as most of our teachers at work have iPads and many with iPhones." So thank you for making my boring hum-drum life much busier. :P

Just another free service that Moody offers.  Today my oldest grandson and I are building a bookcase that will slip in under the loft I'm building for my oldest grand-daughter.  There's also a desk to be built that will go under the loft.  Then I get to build another one.  The good news is that I don't have to finish them.

iPad and iPhone

You guys put me to shame!

Nice phone holder, John! I was thinking about something similar that holds the phone and is a passive amplifier. Saw several designs and thought it would be perfect for a desktop item. I use the speaker phone function all of the time- mainly because of my hearing- but also I accidentally touch the phone to my face and disconnect the caller. The passive amplifier would bring up the sound, keep both hands free and keep me from hanging up.

Cool loft bed, Ron! Someone is going to be VERY happy.

I did get all the rolling pin insert material sanded and cut to length. Now it's on to more cutting, gluing and clamping.

Don't see a thread started for this weekend (12/12 and 12/13) so I will list TD List anyway.

1. Reorganize storage in my "shop".  It was getting too hard to find things so I ordered another storage cabinet. It came yesterday.  Disappointed in it but the ones I have used heretofore seem to have been discontinued by the orange big box.  Will have to make do with the new one even though it's decidedly inferior.

2.  Six pens to turn.

3. 26 Christmas ornaments (Steve Good design) to cut on the Scroll Saw

The old saying John Moody, "I'm so busy I don't know whether to wind my butt or scratch my watch" applies to you!

They be cleaning floors, and moving stuff in to the FINISHED Burnt Rooms this weekend.....

Dungeon might have visiters tomorrow.

I intend to do as little as I can get away with, and even less IF they will let me......

Yesterday?   2 planes rehabbed, 1 doorawy trimmed out, 1 light fixture changed out.  head light changed out, back up light bought ( changed that out this morning) Recovering from a 3 hour drive through the central Ohio countryside.....and getting lost a few times.   @ 24mpg, still went through 8 gallons!

Hoping today is nice and QUIET!    I might need an Olde Pharte Power Nap later......
