October 29, 201510 yr This afternoon, I had to pay my respects at one of the local funeral home which happens to to owned by a friend of mine. He was greeting at the front door and his first words were, "Do you have a lathe?" He's renovating the oak stairway and is missing two white oak finials so, I walked out with a master finial and an order for two more. The finials I make won't have the lower flange plate on it.
October 29, 201510 yr Cool! I guess the words, "do you have a lathe" are preferable, from a funeral director, than "you don't look well"
October 30, 201510 yr This same type of thing has happened to me too. I saw a family heirloom that was missing a small spindle. I asked about it and they still had the missing, broken spindle. I secretly stole it. I carefully repaired it and did as best I could to conceal the repair. Then with the help of an insider, I placed it back where it came from. It was some time before it was discovered and there was a lot of questions. The insider couldn't keep a secret and I was exposed. They were so happy.................
October 30, 201510 yr Congratulations on the cool finial and the contract Now, about knowing the funeral director so well that he greets you with that kind of question ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
