Friday, Sept 25th, What's on Your Patriot Woodworker Agenda?

Featured Replies

I'm going to pinch hit for my good friend John Moody today.  John had a redux on his left hand today so I'll be his hairy legged secretary.

Today the love of my life and I traveled to Gas City and Fairmount Indiana to do a little pickin' and a whole lot of street rod viewing.  Fairmount was the birthplace of James Dean and the last weekend of September of each year is dedicated to his memory.  Thousands of street rods come into the area and we stroll hand in hand listening to the old music, looking at the cars and getting our allotment of junk food.  Fred, you and Judy need to trip up here next year!

So gang, what's on your weekend agenda?

By the way........ Get well soon John Moody!!!

The past couple of days I have been working on making a bunch of cutting boards for Christmas sales so Mama will have $$$ to spend. I got everything all laid out and tonight I will start gluing them all up. The only down side is the heat in the garage as we are a bit over 100 degrees.

Finishing up a couple of Adirondack chairs Mimi volunteered me to do. Not my choice of materials, color or finish-

The backs need to be removed so I can get them out of the shop.

I know how that works Lew!

If we can get the bugs worked out, maybe a little surprise for the TPW community over in the Old Machinery Forum. ;)

I can't even picture that myself.

I have a ton of Post Office box doors just begging to be used. I may get started on some banks using them this weekend. But I also have to keep that weekend show in Fairmount in mind...maybe I can make that next year; sounds like fun.

Got the first batch of cutting boards and cheese boards completed, oiled and ready to sell for Christmas. They are a mix of walnut, maple, cherry and mahogany. I really like the contrast of the mahogany as it makes things pop. The mahogany came from a friend of mine from church that imports lumber to sell to furniture manufacturers. He gave me a  number of pieces of mahogany that were stickers from pallets of lumber shipped in from South America. They looked pretty ugly before I cut them down into strips but they have some great color and grain.
