Friday, July 17th, What's on your Patriot Woodworker Agenda?

Well for me I am still mostly sitting around doing nothing. I still have two fingers and my thumb that have not gotten all of the feeling back yet from the carpal tunnel surgery last Friday. I also still have the stitches in my hand so not much I can do.

But work has continued in the shop and I am playing supervisor. My son got one Egg table almost finished and the frame ready for the second one.

Before he got started on these we got the new Grizzly DC installed and in place. It seems to do a really good job.

I run it through the metal can separator and then it goes to one of the two bags one the DC.

Because i needed to do something with the old one till I decided what all I am going to do we connected it to the Grizzly planer where it made a world of difference and we didn't have to empty as often as we did with the small on I had on the planer.

So he should finish the second table Saturday since he a;ready has the boards cut and planed. They just need installing.

I got asked to do a couple of chainsaw file handles (pictures later) and a couple of hidden compartment keychains, so that's what's going on here this weekend.

I'll also be poking around on the site here gettin used to the new upgrades.

Get well soon there John. Have a great weekend all!

I'll be trying to keep cool today, & tomorrow 87° here now 90+% humidity with a dew point in the mid 70° range.

We hit 91° a couple of hours ago for the first 90° day in two years.

Tomorrow is supposed to be 93° with the same humidity, & dew point with a heat index pushing 105°

I feel  like I'm melting.

Assembling Morris Chair sides. Above are all the parts including the sides.

I'm building a set of corn hole boards for a gal tomorrow.  Sunday is gun day.  I have a brand new Taurus PT111-G2 that is begging to be broken in.  I told John Moody today that many ladies eat chocolate when they are under stress but I buy guns.  I stopped by the gun shop yesterday on the way home from the dentist and they made me an offer I couldn't refuse.

For curiousity - can you decide which bag the dust goes to on your dust collector or is it just serandipity?

Once again my ignorance is showing: What is a Corn Hole Board?  What is it used for?

Ernie,

You may know it by another name but, it's a board with a hole set at an angle that you toss bean bags at.

It's played similar to horse shoes.

Ernie, a cole hole game consists of two boards that are 2' x 4' with a 6" hole near the upper edge.  You place the boards ( I think 30 ft apart) and ou throw large bean bags that are filled with corn or rice towards the opposing board. You get 3 points for a bag that goes in the hole and 1 point for any bag on the boards.  First to score 21 wins.

Ron - you are making the holes, right????????  Who is making the corn bags????????????

As for my weekend woodworking - it has been nada.  Finished our 6-week vacation by getting a broken axel spring fixed and then visiting my sister in Shelbyville, IN and then traveling on to Grove City, OH to visit my brother and then arrived home Sunday about 5PM.  It is now 9PM and Judy and I are ready to pack up the trailer and head out again - but then, that is only dreaming.

we were camping this past week so no shop work. but oh wait a minute that's right my lathe went along. 20 muddlers, a couple dozen rolling pins, a dozen ice cream scoop handles and 8 bottle stoppers were completed in my idle time.

Sure, John - what's a vacation for?  You WERE relaxing, right?

I had my scrollsaw with me the entire vacation also but was so busy I didn't have much time to use it ! ! ! ! !

Thanks to both you guys.  There is another name for the game and even that escapes me right now.  Some of our Detroit Tigers fans play it on the sidewalk outside the parklng lots outside Comerica Park (the home of the Detroit Tigers). Just never heard that name for the game before.  Thanks to you two for the enlightenment.

Ernie,

I had to think for a few minutes, but I think it's called Beano around here.

No woodworking for me last weekend - was vendor in a little town called Monteagle, TN.  Did OK for a small town.  Between the the Utah show and this last one, inventory is WAY down.  Good thing next show is over a month away.
