June 13, 201510 yr Picked up this Columbian Vise today. I traded a picture of Hamilton for it. It's already in the tank taking a rust removal bath.
June 14, 201510 yr That there is a nice vice Larry, that rust bath your giving it is going to really do it well, what color are you going with?
June 14, 201510 yr Looks like the beast I have bolted to my bench. Speaking of "Beast", what are the dimensions Larry?
June 14, 201510 yr Author That there is a nice vice Larry, that rust bath your giving it is going to really do it well, what color are you going with? John, I'll probably go with hammered black with brass trim. Looks like the beast I have bolted to my bench. Ron, I found the code 6CD cast into it after it's first bath. It needs to cook a bit longer to get it real clean. From photos I've found it probably originally had a wood crank handle. Speaking of "Beast", what are the dimensions Larry? The jaws are 6" x 3" and the jaws open 7 1/2 inches without wood jaws. I've got some hard maple that I think I'll use for replacing the wood. That's a sturdy little bugger! It sure is Lew.
June 15, 201510 yr That's very cool Larry. Look forward to seeing it after the bath and a little rehab! I bet it is going to be awesome.

June 20, 201510 yr Author Doesn't look to bad after a couple of days in an electrolysis bath. The bath made it come apart nice and easy! Now if only the weather would cooperate so I can get it painted.

July 17, 201510 yr Author Does anyone recognize what type of wood the handle on this one is made from? With what that one went for I guess I didn't do to bad for $10.00.
July 17, 201510 yr Author I know, it's hard to tell from a photo. Maybe I'll just use a piece of pipe with caps?
July 17, 201510 yr Author Lew,No I don't, but I'll see what the neighbor or Menards or Lowes has in dowels.
