We are still into the rain off and on weather pattern here. No work getting done on the outside part of the shop addition yet. Rained almost everyday last week and we had some straight line winds on Monday that took down four utility poles a block from our house. We went without power that day, night and they got it back on the next morning. It really didn't have much effect on us since my number one shop helper got to feeling a bit tired on having chest pains last weekend. So a trip to the Dr. sent us to the hospital and on Tuesday morning they preformed an artiergram and found one blockage on the LCD that was 90% blocked. A stent was put in and she is doing fine now, just getting her strength back.

Last weekend while she was trying to help, Josh and I got a new door installed into the shop to prepare for the work outside if the rain ever stops. Right now you enter the shop from the side and if and wen they start to pour concrete it would keep us out of the shop for a few days. So I took down one of the old fiberglass roll up doors and replaced it with a walk in door.

Once we do the expansion, I will take down the siding on that side and use part of it to replace these.

One thing I really like is it gives us a straight shot into the shop to bring lumber and place it on the SCMS to start breaking it down or if it is going to the table saw it is right inside the door.

So this weekend if all is good, we will be starting on a large custom Green Egg table, six feet long with two cabinets below and several pull out trays and drawers. I'm hoping we can get most of it done this weekend since I have fallen pretty far behind on getting projects out right now.

So what is going on in your Patriot Woodworker shop this weekend? You know as always, we here at TPW love to see those wonderful projects you have and are working on or hear about your shop expansion or new tools added. So share with us you weekend woodworking plans and please post pictures of your projects are they progress alone.

Have a great summer weekend, weather here will be in the low 90's each day.

We are starting to heat up here weather wise too John. Fortunately it cools down enough at night that the concrete floors in our garage cool down, and act as a cool radiator all day long, so when I work I keep the garage shuttered all day long in the summer, and let the cool floor keep the garage cooler then the outside.

Can you believe it I still have a bathroom project I need to get back too. Tomorrow I am going to put up concrete backer board at the tub surround area in prep for tile.

Today working overtime at the day job!

Wow and Wow, that is absolutely beautiful!!

Great Job Lew!!!

painting french doors

I'm trying something I never did before  blue tape on the windows.  Usually I just control the brush, but this paint  from home depot is HORRIBLE GARBAGE that I will never - ever buy again.

It rolls out ok  - a little thin for my taste, but when I use a brush it's all streaks and bare spots and I use very good brushes.

I used it when I repainted the dining room. Put it on the stained trim. It worked pretty good. Only recommendation would be to use a burnisher to firmly seal the edges, just prior to applying the paint.

Beautiful job Lew. I'll pick it up in a couple of weeks. B)

Lew, Just gorgeous!

I never thought I'd say this to a guy, but your legs are beautiful.

I'd planned to cut out and glue up the bending form for the arms for the Morris chairs but I'm tired. Couldn't sleep last night. Up at 2:30 this morning. Been cat napping.

Spent Friday on the road to Indiana....Martinsville, IN

Ok, what happened there. The post is the Woodstick. About like the sign post from MASH. Shows where everyone's home is from there. Whether back in Ohio. Or, VT.,MN.,MO., LA.,or even NB, Canada.

Classes were on sharpening a plane's iron, and a saw blade. There was even a how to on refurbbing a hand plane. One fellow even brought along one of his as a test plane.

There is also a stack in the shop of 3/4 x 8 x 36" maple and White Oak.    have just started the Single Brain Cell Sketch-up to work on WHAT to build out of it.

There are 12" bandsaws, and there are these bandsaws.   it came all the way from Gary in Texas, by way of Candy in OK. to Woodstick.    It was a might rusty, was in a couple pieces, but now is ready to go to work.    And, a very big THANK YOU to all that were involved in this.    Didn't even know the saw was mine until time to load up and go home.....

So, wait a week or so....I might have something built....might even use the new bandsaw....
