Twelve days till Christmas Eve and everything in the shop is whirling, spinning and throwing off dust. Jointing is finished, planing is done, boards in the clamps, ready for sanding and fun. Not a moment to waste, expectation are high, now I'm wondering why I didn't start in July.

 

I hope you all have all your projects finished or near finished and getting to do some fun stuff in the shop.

 

We had our last craft show for the year last night. It was an outdoor show and a bit cold, but it is December and should be that way now.

 

Tomorrow I will be working on two blanket chest, one cedar and one Cherry. My sons will be also in the shop working on two Cedar Green Egg tables. I am sure it will be tight in there and four big projects being worked on at the same time. We will be doing the "WorkShop Shuffle" going from machine to machine and staying out of each others way.

On the twelfth day of Christmas, my true love gave to me, 12 Walnut, Cherry, and Maple Bread Boards.

 

 

 

I decided to use the flocking suggestions for the inside of the little jewelry boxes. Just waiting for Mom to return them after they are painted.

Tomorrow I'll be assembling a white oak loft with a friend from church for his daughter. My next project is a portable pulpit for a local church.

I am doing a lot of painting as I finished up the primer yesterday and the 1st coat of semi gloss finish paint on the walls of bookcases in family room. I will put the 2nd coat on it tomorrow and then will start painting the walls. I also have to build a wheelchair ramp for our missions/outreach director at church. He and his wife bought a new construction home which will close the end of the month. They have a col lege age daughter who is in a wheelchair with cerebral palsy and they need a ramp in the garage. I got the wood and measurements so I will hopefully get it done next week.

A widow lady neighbor (4 miles away, That's close, here) is off the grid and needs a container for her storage batteries. 

Then, it's back to Jewelry chests. 

I did get out to the shop the last few days. Temps have been in the mid 50* range so it's been nice, (for Montana in the middle of winter!)

Most of our free time has been doing Santa & Mrs. Claus visits. This is always fun with the little kids, gets us in the spirit of Christmas!

One of last years. We have around 12 to do this year.

The fun part is the little ones and going to the retirement homes!

We have had some wonderful weather here in the Denver area. Last 2 days near 70 and lots of sunshine. I have been working to complete the redesigned small quilt rack. I wanted to do it with the garage door open. Sunday we go back to normal winter weather and snow. I rebuilt the missing pieces and guessed at design. Not only was it wrong, it was really wrong. I experimented with some pine and got a good design which I made of Oak. It worked good and the next step was to store it away for the next time. That was a big deal too, cause we don't have much area to store something that large. So I mad a shelf on the top of the garage. Worked good.

 

It will be there for 5 years before she uses it again

Cleaned the shop/garage up and the disassembled the top of an old railroad cart and face jointed the boards for a good friend who is restoring it.  It was good to be out working in the shop and helping someone else with a project.  

 

May have to grade out some lumber and finally start that bed project I've been putting off for, well uhmm, years!

I was at our last show for the year. unfortunately the full time job has me working every day until Christmas. what little time I'll have will be spent cleaning the shop, working on finalizing some special orders, cleaning the shop, and did I mention cleaning the shop?

I got the panels for the Cedar Chest glued up on Saturday morning and then cut the dovetails Sunday afternoon. Just a dry fit here to check them out. I am not sure they are as clean and tight as Cliff's hand cut DT's. I'll get the bottom in today and the top glued. Final Assembly on Tuesday and shipped out on Wednesday.

 

We also got all of the pieces cut and milled for a Green Egg Table and it is ready for assembly. We are in the full last minute push to get items shipped and out for Christmas.
