December 2, 201411 yr While going through my shop over the weekend, I came across this old tool a friend of mine gave me a couple years go, it's an interesting tool with various uses, but I believe it was originally some poor inventors attempt at getting rich quickly, and it just did not go over to well, I am only guessing. It's call "Handy" the word handy is on the opposite side, but it's a fun tool to see, and keep on my shop wall. I get the three tools at the top, the pliers, the hammer, the crimp or wire cutter perhaps, I see a straight slot drive at the tip of the handle, can anyone here see any other uses for this tool?
December 2, 201411 yr Looks like a nail puller under the pliers as well as in one in the handle. And, don't overlook that precision measuring device. With that square hole in the handle, I'm wondering if it wasn't a machine specific tool. Speaking of measuring devices, I see one in the background that hasn't been unwrapped, yet.
December 2, 201411 yr Author Great eye Gene! As far as the square holes, I was wondering about those, I bet those were for standard nuts back in the day, when nuts were square not hex shaped. Yep, there is a nail puller in that small hammer. Oh yes, the unwrapped measuring device! Gene, As you can see that measuring device has made it into my treasured stable of tools, the wrapping still on the tool is a sad symbol of my activity in my shop till now. That measuring device will be seeing it's fair share of use I can assure you! Can't get nothing by you Gene!
December 3, 201411 yr As I remember them, they were only square until the first time you had to loosen and/or tighten them. Then it was rounded nuts and bloody knuckles. Those rounded nuts were the impetus for the invention of Vice Grips, I'm sure.
