John Moody Posted July 9, 2010 Report Posted July 9, 2010 (edited) I have a 12" Porter Cable dovetail jig but I only have the faces that do blind joints. While I was at The Woodworking Show in Huntsville, I picked up this dovetail jig. It is two 15" jigs jointed together so I can do 30" without having to reset the jig. I have to build some cedar chest and they want the corners dovetailed and this will make it easier. I haven't taken the time to try to learn how to cut them by hand yet, but I do plan on giving that a shot at some point So this was another mark off the list as I got it mounted on the block and lined up and ready to go. So how do you cut dovetails? Edited November 24, 2017 by Ron Dudelston tags added Quote
John Morris Posted July 9, 2010 Report Posted July 9, 2010 Ok now I am salivating, I used my Keller jig for my chests, had to set it side by side with two setups, this a good wun for this work, what'd you pay for that John? Quote
John Moody Posted July 9, 2010 Author Report Posted July 9, 2010 It is like 259.00 on their web site, but I was at the woodworking show and pestered the guy most of the day and got it for 200.00. It is a lot cheaper than the Leigh or others to do that size. Now I would really like to have the Leigh or Porter Cable that does 30" but it is about 3 times that much. I have only made a few test cuts for now but it works good if you set it up right. John Quote
Jason Wilkerson Posted July 9, 2010 Report Posted July 9, 2010 Looks neat! Does it let you cut half-blinds also? I haven't tried cutting any dovetails yet either. I was given an old PC router jig from an uncle who couldn't figure out how to use it, but unfortunately he mangled a couple of the fingers and it's not much use now. I think he tried to use it without a bushing! Quote
