November 22, 201015 yr Hello John, I have some Butter nut that would work or come close to the same grain pattern that you might use and I can cut it to size that will ship via UPS Ground and it is only $1.50 per board feet and will meet the limits of the shipping company. It would be banded and would not need to be crated so I can band it up and have it weighed and then you could place a pick up order with UPS and it will ship right from my shop to your front door. The shipping cost would not be that much to make it too expensive to buy. Let me know if you are interested. It is kiln dried and is less than 8% MC.
November 22, 201015 yr Author Thanks Ralph. I'll let you know what I decide. Got to make a decision pretty soon. I have some hickory that is dried so since this got started, I want to see where it leads. November 22, 201015 yr I have a reply form Keith on the pecan/hickory question. Re: Rules for selling Hickory and Pecan From: Keith Stephens To: Warped and Twisted an hour ago Add Keith Stephens to Friends Ignore Keith Stephens It is true but... The application of this rule changes with the market. 10 years ago or so it was difficult to find Hickory and Pecan seperated, today it is very easy. In the US there are about 12 species of Carya, 8 are in the Hickory group and 4 in the Pecan group. So even if the wood is seperated you may still have several different species. This is not unusual. Red Oak can be any of about a dozen species and Purple Heart includes up to 20 different trees. In each case the lumber is so similar that the industry accepts them as one wood. Hope this helps. Keith
