February 5, 201115 yr Can you fine folks please tell me how I lost a table saw sled (flying dutchman to some)? The sucker is about 3 feet wide by 2 feet deep, my shop is a two car garage, it couldn't have gone far, and I can't find the dang thing! I've been looking all over for the last 20 minutes, been working on my rocker all day and now I need it to make a cut and it's gone. Where can a sled 3' x 2' go? Arrrrrgh!
February 5, 201115 yr You put it up in the rafters or you left it outside leaning up against the side of the garage and now it's buried under 5 feet of SNOW!!!!!!!!!!!
February 5, 201115 yr Or it's under your wifes car, the kids used it for a jump, you forgot you took it somewhere else to finish it. You cut it up for another project, It's on top of the garage door (now outside cause you closed the door), The dog ate it. Â
February 5, 201115 yr look behind you.....keep turning...............keep turning...............keep turning................
February 5, 201115 yr or your wife washed it and it's out back hanging on the lineyou lent it to somebodyIt's behind the frigyour buddies used it to support the keg in iceYou left it on the car and now it's a mile away, in the intersection and yes, it's been run overthe wife is painting it for your birthdaythe kids are painting it for your birthday (flower motif)the kids used it for a fortyou left it on the garbage can and it's out by the trash cans at the curbhey buddy, where are you? Running down the street after the trash man?
February 5, 201115 yr John,I believe that is what they call "sometimers" disease. Believe me, it will only get worse.....maybe better.....hockey sticks, what was the question???
February 5, 201115 yr Mike knows all of my hiding places. Â Most likely you leaned it up against something and something else has gotten in front of it. Â I spend more time looking for things than I do working with them. I keep thinking I am putting them were I can find them. it is a shame I have to bring my wife in to look at the shop and tell me where I put stuff.
February 5, 201115 yr Author I'm still looking guys!!!! John Moody said: Mike knows all of my hiding places. February 5, 201115 yr Author Heading out to work on the rocker now, it's 11:15am, lets see if I can find the dang thing by 9pm tonight! Thanks for all your input guys.
February 5, 201115 yr Hey JohnIf it were your glasses I'd say look on your head or hands. Depending how complected your sled is , you might consider making another one, Norm made a very simple one that you make a piece of oak that fits in your mitor slot and attach it to the bottom of a piece of 3/4 ply making sure it's square . When you do this you make sure the ply extends past the saw blade. then you attach a cleat on the top and send it through your saw blade . Then all you have to do is line up the edge of the board your cutting to the saw blade side of the sled. It's simple and quick only about 20 minutes the time you spent looking for the old one. even if you find your other sled it doesn't hurt to have several. I think I have 4
February 5, 201115 yr I'm guessing that when you find it there will be lots of odd socks keeping it company.
February 5, 201115 yr If you'll go ahead and make another like Jim suggest, you will find the one you are looking for. That's what always happens to me.
February 6, 201115 yr I'm sure glad I'm not the only one this happens to!!! I know I put it in a safe spot so I can find it next time. Now if I could just find that spot
February 6, 201115 yr Hi John,Been there done that and nine times out of ten it is right in front of you for the best way to hide something is to leave it in plain sight. You most likely leaned something against the wall in front of it. Ralph
February 6, 201115 yr Author I found it. It was behind a piece of wood that was stuck in the corner, the wood has black carpeting on it, so it disappeared, and the sled was behind it. Thanks guys for your suggestions where to look. I know I can always come here for some good ol fashioned razing!
February 6, 201115 yr Author Thanks Jim, that sounds exactly like the one I lost. But your right, if I just would have built a new one, I could of had it made in about an hour and off to races I go. But your point is valid, It would be nice to have a couple different sizes. A-1 Jim said: Hey John If it were your glasses I'd say look on your head or hands. February 8, 201115 yr  It happened to me again yesterday. The shelf was empty of a 20 amp breaker that a customer needed and freight had just come in. Checked the order sheet and yes it was here and it gave me a tote #. Started checking for the right # tote and out of 25 totes, it was in the last one I looked at. Seems to happen to me way too often! Of course it was on the bottom!
February 8, 201115 yr Harry Only one answer ...Shop gremlins. If that's not it , it would be you forgot where you put it and we all know that never happens  )
