HAPPY BIRTHDAY THE AMERICAN WOODWORKER!!!

Featured Replies

Happy Birthday to all here on The American Woodworker!!!!

We are 1 year old today.

I would like to thank all those that have hung in here with us this long. We have had quiet a year this last run, and I am proud to have all of you aboard with us.

And I would like to thank our Forum Helpers Bob Kloes, Mike Williams aka Dragon1, Ralph Jones, and Richard McComas.

I would also like to give a special and big Thank You to John Moody, who is serving double duty on this site as the Wood Turners Forum Helper and the Assistant Site Administrator. Without John and his insight, this network might look a little different today.

I would also like to give a special thanks to the two gentlemen that were here in the very beginning, two guys that were the first forum helpers on this site, and two of my first "sounding walls" of whom I bounced many an idea off of, Larry Jenkins and Steven Newman. Thanks guys!

In the last year we had some great times, and we had some bumpy roads that we all went through together. We all came aboard with the idea of providing a positive environment for woodworkers and to provide support for our favorite cause The Wounded Warrior Project.I look forward to yet another year of growth and learning.

How we got the name The American Woodworker

Well, contrary to popular belief, we were not trying to copy that wonderful publication "American Woodworker". It was more of a brain freeze on my part, I was looking for a name that would demonstrate our love of country, and woodworking, and that was the first name that came to mind. I totally forgot about the magazine! We are currently involved in the arduous task of choosing a new name for our site to avoid further confusion.

Once again, I would like to thank all our members who show up to our world, and make our site what it is today, just a great place to be and have fun, and enjoy some good company. We have struck a good tone on this network, and I hope it stays for years to come.

So, this Buds on you folks, cheers, and Happy Birthday!

Looks to me like TWA had a great first year. I'm sure it's only going to get bigger and better.

Good job to John and all the others that put this site together ......... congratulations ~ Dan

Hello John,

A Happy Birthday to you and these great forums, which we would not have except for you and your willingness to help the Wounded Warriors. Though I write on another forum and join in on their post ocassionally but, since I have come to these forums I have declared this my home forum for as long as you all will have me.

As many of you know, I am a woodworking teacher and my passion is teaching anyone who wishes to gain knowledge. As we all know that knowledge is not knowledge until it is passed on.

I hope all of the folks on these forums join me in wishing you many more years right where you are today.

Also to all you Marines where ever you are "SEMPER FI".

Kudos John,   I had April 6 on my calendar as the one year anniversary.  Not unusual for me to screw up dates.  I had no idea THW  would attract such a large number of great and giving members,  And kudos for your work in reminding us of THE WOUNDED  WARRI0RS.  You make our military family proud.  Love, Dad

Hello Jack,

I don't believe that I have had the pleasure to meet you on these forums or not, however I am as proud of your son as you are for what he has done and is doing for our Wounded Warriors and all of the hard work he has done on these forums and I am proud to be a part of them as well to help out as best I can for John and the forums.

Happy Birthday TAW.  John, you've done a terriffic thing here and we haven't seen anything yet!

Thanks for your kindness Ralph,

I am still involved in my wood shop but for the last couple of years my time has been split between wood shop projects for my home and mostly agriculture.  I do read the forums and am impressed with your knowledge and contributions and the contributions the other members have made.  You guys are THW of today.

Patriots?     Maybe a one called "Thomas Paine's woodshop"?      Can't use Sam Adams, he's more known for BEER nowadays.

If this wasin the "UK", maybe "Royal Oak Woodworker"?

I would use some caution in finding a new name.   Too "narrow" a "Title" might drive some away to other sites.   Something like "The guardian wood worker"  might give the wrong message.

Yep. I'm still around.   This is one of about five sites I hang out at.   One thing John MIGHT look into is a "Newsletter" sort of thing, maybe put it out on Facebook and draw in some new people that way.  Do-able?

Congratulations John on the first year anniversary. It has been so much fun and I enjoy everyday of getting to be here.

Thanks for the vision and investment to put it all together.

congrats....... many many more
