August 7, 201114 yr It is with my sincerest pleasure to welcome Greg Aksdal as our new Scroll Saw Forum Host.  Thank you Greg for stepping up to the plate and helping us with the important task at hand, providing a wonderful down home place for woodworkers and helping our favorite folks out, our servicemen and women through our efforts with The Wounded Warrior Project. Greg is definitely a scroller at heart. One look at his work and his sense of humor, as you can see by his home page at his personal website he states, "Maker of Fine Designer Sawdust with His Scroll Saw!". You gotta love a guy who can put his own work into a self deprecating context! We like a little humility within our ranks at The Patriot Woodworker. You can see Greg's work at his website The Sawdust Factory Scroll Saw Art Work and you can also see his work at his Art Fire Store. Besides a scroller, Greg is an avid supporter of our men and women in uniform who serve our country and keep the bad guys of our shores. Greg is a veteran as well, he served in the 24th ID U.S.Army, Ft. Stewart, Ga. 1983 - 1986. he also belongs to American Legion Post 164 In Pembroke Ga. and also Ogeechee Lodge #213 F&AM in Statesboro, Ga. I am confident Greg will keep his forum alive with good content and mentor other scrollers, and yes, learn from us all as well. As we are all here on one big woodworking journey together. All skill levels, all styles, all folks, all philosophies, all in one cool place called The Patriot Woodworker. So without further ado, I need to get with Greg and tell him how to use his new functionality on our site and bring him up to speed on a few things, so welcome Greg, and I thank you for stepping up and taking this on. I am so happy we opened this forum up. John Morris The Patriot Woodworker    To control which emails you receive on The Patriot Woodworker, click here  John MorrisThe Patriot Woodworker

August 8, 201114 yr I guess this is where I tell my life story. I've been  tinkering around with wood projects most of my life, at one time I did a lot of yard art type projects, but got really tired of all the painting and got away from any real woodworking for a couple years. Fast forward a couple years and one afternoon at BooksaMillion I saw a couple of magazines, Creative woodworks and crafts and Scrollsaw workshop, flipped through them and really got intrigued by the projects so I bought them, and kept reading them for awhile. I ended up buying a single speed no name saw and the rest is history. That was in 2000, and scrolling has been a real passion for me since then. I have been trying to learn pattern making for the last year or so and have learned alot in that time with the help of  couple of forums, some of which have disappeared. This forum has great potential, and together we can make it a great place, I'm looking forward to everybody's input.  Greghttp://www.thesawdustfactory.net/
