September 3, 201114 yr Well the weekend got started busy for me. How busy, well I am just now getting the Friday post up. Well it is still Friday. Took about nine white oak logs to the sawmill this morning. Should yield me about 1000 bf of QSWO. I'll take another load when I pick this up. Had a craft show tonight and it was outdoors. Temperature was 101 when I set up my tables. Man was it hot. Had a fair night, not one of the best but it was good and meet a lot of people. Tom Durgin came over and we got to spend some time talking. Got another show tomorrow, Saturday. As soon as it is over I am heading out for a little late afternoon dove shoot. Picked up a couple of confirmed jobs this afternoon so I will be busy in the shop in the next few weeks. Cutting boards to sand. A little family time and some rest this holiday weekend. What is on your agenda this weekend? Woodworking, shop time, family time, what is going on in your world?John MoodyJohn Moody Woodworkshttp://www.johnmoodywoodworks.com
September 3, 201114 yr Hoping to finish the series of crosses. Have to remake Ascension, and do Exodus. Would like to finish up a smaller lathe table for a friend. Get some more work done on the bookcase for the lawyer. Spending Sunday with the grand kids after church. Wayne MahlerGod bless and protect our troops that serve so we can be free.
September 3, 201114 yr Taking 3 days off. Headed for the cabin. Son and GF will be there, too. Mamma made two cobblers to take...a peach and black berry one and a cherry one. See y'all Tuesday.
September 3, 201114 yr Good Morning John,Well here I am back from a long delay while the wife was in the hospital and nursing home and she is now back in the hospital with pneumonia for a couple of days however when she does come back home she has a new hospital bed to sleep in.My week end chores will be to help a buddy to install the ladders on the ends of his gable trusses and then add the sheathing if we have enough help. I also am making a door for a contractor who is painting down town on a building and the existing door has had the well known coarse. It is 36" wide x 80" high and 1 3/4 thick. I planed last night till 9:20 in order to get the correct thickness and when I came in the house I didn't have a dry stitch on as the temperature was 97º with high humidity. Wheew, was I ever grad to get that chore done.
September 3, 201114 yr Well, this morning my plans changed thanks to a rush on flag cases. Today I'm going to an estate auction looking for antiques and I'll be starting three more flag cases. Of course Notre Dame football will be bestled in there somewhere. Tomorrow church and family time and Monday is shop day. Ron DudelstonAbove and Beyond WoodWorks
September 3, 201114 yr I have a total of 11 cutting boards to final sand and put finish on this weekend and will be shipping out a couple of them to a client in North Carolina as gifts for his wife and for his son.
September 3, 201114 yr 8 AM this morning my wife took a call for a front fence installation from ground zero. So hopefully tomorrow I will finish this job and get back to my shop. Got 12 posted dug and cemented in along with all the measurements and stuff. But one of the other home owners up there inquired about a job. So who knows. Funny how life throws things at you at the last moment. Whats even stranger is how someone spent the day before and 2 holes dug for posts, but on the wrong place. So much for my plans but it's always good to make some money   Wayne MahlerGod bless and protect our troops that serve so we can be free.
September 4, 201114 yr I'm going to try to finish up a couple of portraits tomorrow, then work as usual Monday.  Greghttp://www.thesawdustfactory.net/

September 4, 201114 yr Just picked up aused tower, by Compaq, at a yard sale. A whole $4. I will be spending most of the weekend getting MY stuff on it, and getting rid of the trash still on the tower. Saving up $$$ for a new disc of Windows7, to load onto my old emachine tower. Might even get a keyboard/monitor and wind up with TWO computers in the house. We'll see...
September 4, 201114 yr Not for me, business has been real slow all summer so I need to be open everyday that I can be. I'll close early, probably around 6pm and go home and scorch some meat on the grill. John Moody said: Good going Greg. No off time on Monday? September 5, 201114 yr I got 10 of the 11 cutting boards completed and ready to go. The 11th one had a few issues with routing, so I will have to see if it can be salvaged. So there are 9 of the 3-D boards and 1 end grain board that I made for a friend of mine. All are made with maple, walnut and cherry with most of the 3-D boards having padauk accents. All I have left to do tomorrow is to fired up the branding iron and put my final mark on them.  Â
September 5, 201114 yr Author Awesome looking cutting boards Allen. Great job on all of them. I really love those 3D boards. Excellent work! John MoodyJohn Moody Woodworkshttp://www.johnmoodywoodworks.com
September 5, 201114 yr Author Hope all of you are getting some rest and enjoying the Labor Day weekend. For some maybe an extra day in the shop or just doing what you want to do. I had back to back craft shows on Friday and Saturday so yesterday and today I decided to take a break and my wife and I are just spending some time together. We had dinner out and saw the movie "Seven Days in Utopia" last night. A great movie and a must watch if you are a golfer. We both play golf and it was a great movie. Not going to tell you anything about it other than you need to see it. Tropical depression Lee has started dumping rain on us yesterday and it hasn't stopped since early Sunday morning. It is great, we were so dry the earth worms were coughing up dust. It has been a fairly slow and steady rain the kind that really soaks the ground and ours really needed. it. Looks like we could get close to 12" before it stops on Tuesday evening. Hope you all are having a wonderful weekend and post so update to the projects you are working on. John MoodyJohn Moody Woodworkshttp://www.johnmoodywoodworks.com
