September 8, 201114 yr comment_40848 Hi folks. Just wondering what everyone has been up to in their scrolling time. Haven't seen of heard from much so figured I would ask. As for me, I have been working on getting the series of crosses finished. i had the Ascension Cross done till it slipped out of my hand and broke into 2 pieces hitting the floor. I'll be posting the photos of the other ones soon. Also been busy building a lathe table for a friend and a huge walnut bookcase for a lawyer.Hope ll is well with everyone. Looking forward to those checking in.  Wayne MahlerGod bless and protect our troops that serve so we can be free. Report

September 10, 201114 yr comment_40866  Guess everybody got side track like me. Doing everything else but woodworking. Did get read some on the two books I got on Intrasia from Judy Gale. Had to read the part on cutting out the pieces about 3 times before I got the idea of how it done in laying out and shaping. Did sit down and made a list of wood I'm planning to get for Intrasia work. I can get some here locally. Others it looks like I'll have to mail order/ or on-line order. Tomorrow I'll take a look at what Scroll saw blades I'll need if any. That is if I don't get side track again. Wayne E.  Report

September 10, 201114 yr comment_40864 I've been trying to get a bunch of ornaments, key chains and other misc. small stuff cut and finished so I will hopefully be ready for the farmer's market that I plan on setting up at starting the 1st Sat. in Oct. thru the last sat. before Thanksgiving. I put my wife to painting ornaments last week and she has been a big help with that. Got a couple portraits that need to be finished too. Oh yeah I've been working my usual 50+ hours a week too.  Greghttp://www.thesawdustfactory.net/ Report
September 11, 201114 yr comment_40863 Unfortunately the wife honey do projects got scrolling beat. Yea, she taking advantage of my woodworking skills and beyond.  Although I don't exactly consider building a shed woodworking. I call that carpentry. That also includes landscaping.   Wayne E  Greg Aksdal said: Don't get sidetracked Wayne, after all scrolling is the most important thing in lifeWayne Ellington said:  Greghttp://www.thesawdustfactory.net/ Report
September 11, 201114 yr comment_40862 Hello all, I'm a scroller, but I've been idle for a while. I changed jobs last fall and have had my scroll saw in storage since last Oct/Nov. We are finally getting close to closing on a house here in our new location. There will be plenty to do with the new place, lots of work ahead of us. I plan on getting back to it and hopefully winning some ribbons at the fairs here like I was fortunate enough to do in New Mexico. Tom Report

September 13, 201114 yr Author comment_40857 ArlinSitting back and working with a scroll saw is just another way to work with wood and other materials. If you have never seriously looked into it I would be happy and honored to tutor you through the process. Check my profile and look at some of the scroll work I have done. It really is limitless and you can make custom boxes and ornaments. And you can also do 3d projects in scrolling. Trust me I do a lot more then scroll saw work. But this was my entry point for woodworkiing and to this day I have a great passion for my scroll saw.  Wayne MahlerGod bless and protect our troops that serve so we can be free. Report
September 13, 201114 yr comment_40856 Arlin, Wayne is absolutely right, the possibilities with a scroll saw are limitless. I've been scrolling for several years now and am still amazed and intrigued at some of the work I see. Any advice you need just ask and I'm sure we can help you out.  Greghttp://www.thesawdustfactory.net/ Report

September 15, 201114 yr comment_40854 Here is a chicken farm sign I designed and scrolled a few weeks ago.  It's now hanging on a chicken coop. Sign is approximately 22 inches wide.  Each letter was scrolled and glued on.  I was in a big hurry to deliver this sign, so sat it on a carpet in the shop and took the one and only picture I have of this sign.  Wish I had vacuumed the rug before taking the picture, but anyway here is the sign.  Never good to let one's scroll saw cool down.   SQ    It it can't be fixed with glue and sawdust - it's not worth fixing. September 16, 201114 yr comment_40851 Well I would be on more but my computer died. I have been forced to use my fathers laptop as I can. On top of that I took a layoff from work. Bright side is lots of time for scrolling and doing craft shows. I have some money put back and no need to work for over a year if I dont want to. But I will be called back to work soon enough so no worries there.
