September 14, 201114 yr I had been chewing on how since I have been enjoying things here on this forum that I need to help out a bit. It is free for us to join and participate but when you get so much out of it then it is a good thing to give back. So I was thinking today as I stood in line at the recycling center where I take our empty plastic water and juice bottles for recycling every month about what I was going to do with the massive amounts of money I was going to get back. With our family we typically have a 33 gallon trash can full empty plastic bottles which ends up being about $6-$8 each month. So what do I do with all that money? It goes in my wallet and pays for a couple of mornings at Chick-Fil-A for my large unsweet iced tea with 3 lemons (yes, it is the same every time as I am a bit anal about things and I cannot drink soda). So I figured that I could put that to good use and pass these big bucks along to The Patriot Woodworker site to help support the Wounded Warriors. Now, $6-$8 in and of itself doesn't sound like much, but then again I am just one person. We have over 600 members on this site and if you had 600 donations of $6-$8 each month, then that would be $3600-$4800 each month. Now if we only had say 100 people do it then that would be $600-$800 per month. Now if we had only 50 people do it, then that would be $300-$400 per month. Ok, I am done doing the math as my brain hurts now, but you get the picture. So what I am saying is that we all get something out of this site and just a few dollars here and there keeps this site up and running and can make a big difference to a man or woman who has served us and our country who was wounded in the process. This site is ran off the donations of its members. But along with that it covers the costs of the shipping of all those things the folks on this site make for those who are wounded. So consider making a commitment to give a little something each month.
September 14, 201114 yr AllenNow that's one great thought. It saves our planet and benefits those in dire need. Thank you for bringing this to my attention for I never thought about it. We don't take our plastics to a recycling center but soda cans and beer cans are crushed and saved for a run to the re-cycling place. We just throw it into house money, but it may have a whole new purpose.  Wayne MahlerGod bless and protect our troops that serve so we can be free.
September 14, 201114 yr That's a great idea Allen, and I just noticed we are the recipient of your recyclables already! Thanks Allen! As you said, just imagine what we could do with 400 bucks a month. We could pay our site dues, and have a whole lot of money left over to use for our Wounded Warriors. As you all know, this is an all volunteer site, myself, and our volunteers, don't make a single dime off this site, really! I know it's hard to believe, but it's true. We are here for two purposes, to provide a fun place for woodworkers to hang out, and to give to The Wounded Warrior Project. Thanks again Allen.  John MorrisThe Patriot Woodworker
