November 5, 201114 yr The Patriot Woodworker A message to all members of The Patriot Woodworker I am excited to announce that our affiliate Woodcraft is back! Woodcraft has always been a favorite of mine. Some of our veteran members may remember that Woodcraft was on our site eons ago, well actually since our site was just born 20 months ago, an eon is a relatively short time ago. But my point is, they were here up until several months ago. As some may remember, you read my RANT about our state of California passing legislation against online retailers that involved taxes, BOOOOO!!! And many online retailers pulled out of the California market, taking their affiliate programs with them. And you might remember in my rant, I completely supported Woodcraft and our other affiliates for doing so. I was saddened, but I supported them. As this was just another case of big government with their proverbial thumbs up their a** getting in the way of our commerce. After much pressure from business groups, the legislation was repealed, and the online retailers came back to their affiliates, well some of them. And Woodcraft is one of them! After some pleading on my part, Woodcraft has come back on board, and our own member Frank Byers who is first and foremost the premier Woodcraft blogger and internet media consultant, helped make this happen. He was instrumental in fact. Frank even took our case all the way up the chain of command to the President of Woodcraft. And they agreed, we would be a good fit and great partners. Now you all may ask why I went to the lengths I did with Woodcraft. The reason is, I have been a Woodcraft customer for the last 10 years. Sure I still buy from other online retailers and brick and mortar shops for items that are not available elsewhere. But when I do have some online business to conduct for my woodworking supplies and tools, Woodcraft has always been the first place I go. They have almost everything a woodworker would need in one place. And I can personally vouch for their customer service. They have great prices, great sales and promotions and quality tools and supplies. Now the real kicker for me, above all, Woodcraft is an ardent supporter of our troops. In a world full of politics and politically correct speech, Woodcraft has taken a stand. As a business, and a franchise, that is rare in today's turbulent politically correct times we are in. They have publicly stated, "We Support Our Troops!". I know, I know, why should that be an un- politically correct statement you ask? It just is, I have experienced it on our own site when I have asked other retailers to consider our site as a partner, they had an issue with our stance, our support of our troops, they called it "Potential controversy" that they did not want their organization(s) or companies affiliated with. Are you kidding! On the issue of supporting our troops, Woodcraft has also asked us to be a part of their "Turning for Troops" project. You can read all about it HERE. I will post more in the near future about our involvement in "Turning for Troops" once I get more educated about the project and the details of participation, so please stand by. You can also go to Frank's Blog "Woodworking Adventures" and read more about it. Once there, scroll down a tad and to the right under "Pages", you'll see his link "Turning for Troops Initiative". Check it out! Here are a few images from one of the Woodcraft franchises participating in Turning for Troops. Also on a little side note, I have recently become a member of Frank Byers Woodcraft Woodworking Adventures Blog, and I have gone through the pages of members, blogs, and rich content and thoroughly enjoyed myself. I can highly recommend his site for another good place to hang your hat. It's family friendly, very interesting, and of course, supporting his blog, supports our troops too. Now, a quick message about how you can help keep The Patriot Woodworker up and running, and how you can help us help our own charity out, The Wounded Warriors Project. The way we get paid by Woodcraft is when you, our most valued member, makes a purchase from Woodcraft by clicking through the Woodcraft links on our site. When you enter Woodcraft online through our site to buy your tools and supplies, The Patriot Woodworker gets a commission of the sale. This cost you, the buyer, not a single extra penny to do this. Nothing changes on your end. And your keeping our site live by helping to defray the costs of running an online community. This aint cheap folks to do this, so we ask only one thing from our members, which is to think of making your next purchase from our affiliate Woodcraft through our site. Myself, and our site helpers, do not make a single dime off this place. We are not in it to make a profit, we volunteer all our time and own funds to keep us live. We have not broke even in a single month since we have been live. Even with your generous donations, we have not been in the black since this place was fired up 20 months ago. And guess what, that is perfectly fine with us!!!! Because we are having the time of our lives here at The Patriot Woodworker, and we know we are helping a great cause, The Wounded Warrior Project. With your help, we have donated over 1100 dollars to this great organization The Wounded Warriors, and we have sent off a few shipments of the Challenge Coin Displays for our wounded troops. So please, consider Woodcraft for your next tools and supplies purchase! So, without further ado, I would like to extend the warmest of welcomes to Woodcraft, our new/returning affiliate to The Patriot Woodworker. And I would like to thank Frank Byers for coming to the table on our behalf. Have a wonderful weekend folks, and we'll see yall on the The Patriot Woodworkers Forums! November 5, 201114 yr Thank you John & Frank and Welcome back to Woodcraft! I have been purchasing from Woodcraft since the 80s and have never had an unpleasant experience. I would like to see less made in China products but that's another discussion.
November 5, 201114 yr Author Great point Mike, in addition to Woodcraft coming aboard, Frank asked me if I would like some links to "Made in America" tools dealers and makers to add to our "American Made Tools" resources section here on The Patriot Woodworker. He supplied me with a lengthy list of American Companies for us to support, and I have to get them posted up on our site. I'll get to it tonight after I come home from a lumber run. I think there are some links to tool makers from our good friends to the north Canada, of which I wholeheartedly support as well. November 5, 201114 yr That would be a big help John! I don't mind paying extra for a well manufactured tools and to buy American or Canadian made products is an even bigger plus. Every time I go past Harbor Freight I cringe. I've bought a few items from there and they quite frankly suck but they are cheap and you get what you pay for.

November 5, 201114 yr Wow, Thank you so much for supporting Woodcraft, our troops, and myself. I could not do what I do without all the great folks over at Woodcraft, From everyone at corporate, customer service, warehouse, stores, franchisees, vendors, clubs, celebrity woodworkers, hand-crafted woodworkers, teachers, and of course our fine customers, I can only say that I have learned from each and everyone one of these individuals. Without them, I could not do what I get to so proudly enjoy doing each and every day of my life. I love going to work, because it is not work, it is all about relationships. So let's help those troops! Thank you for letting me be a part of your world, and together we can help everyone make wood...work! SO let's make some sawdust! Sincerely...Frank Best regards, Frank

November 7, 201114 yr John..Let me tell you why I think Woodcraft is a top shelf Woodworking Supplier. People with the right attitudes and a Company with quality products.  Here's why I think that..Back in 2005, I was co-hosting a quarterly Wood Show on the late Don Zeman's Nationally syndicated show, "Homefront."Many of the questions involved sources for all types of woodworking tools and supplies. Because of my past experiences with Woodcraft, I would most always suggest them as a supplier. In June of 2005, Woodcraft held their annual "Vendor's Show" in Covington, Kentucky.  Don Zeman was invited as a media representative, and he and Woodcraft invited me and my wife Jane to attend. What a professional show. All the major tool manufacturers were there. Big, name brand guys. Jane and I met many of the Woodcraft Managers. That's where it beacame very clear what a great Company Woodcraft really is.TPW should be proud the have them as a partner. No, I dont work for them. Just an impressed Customer.LarryÂ

November 7, 201114 yr I sure am glad to have them back as an affiliate. It is 120 miles for me to drive there. I live between two stores and it is 109 miles to one and 120 to the other. So to be able to purchase through the site, online and help our site sure makes it a good fit. Now I do like to go to the store when I can just to walk around and look, touch and drool over things in the store. Thanks Frank for going to bat for TPW and getting us back together. John MoodyJohn Moody Woodworkshttp://www.johnmoodywoodworks.com
