November 9, 201114 yr Dear Patriot WoodworkersRecently myself and a small contingent of Patriot Woodworkers bought a new lathe for one of our members, their lathe was poorly hurting and a new one was badly needed. Well, phase 1 of that mission has been completed. Our problem now is, with our members disability, he is unable to lift it up onto his work bench. His neighbors are in the same straights as he is, as far as their physical condition. And we need his new lathe up and running asap. This guy has some Christmas gifts to make! So, if anyone here lives in central Arkansas and would like to swing by his home and spend a couple hours to help him out and get this lathe set up we'd sure appreciate it, and I know he would too. This is a good chance to rub elbows with a fellow Patriot Woodworker too! Or if you know of anyone, family or friends that live in central Arkansas that can swing by and help our member out, that would be great too! If your able to help, please drop me a PM or email me at thepatriotwoodworker@verizon.net.Thanks folks! John MorrisThe Patriot Woodworker
November 9, 201114 yr John,Wish I could help, but I'm to far away.I'm sure he would appreciate the help, as his lathe being down has put a damper on him creating his crafts. So, I join you in the plea for giving a helping hand to one of the fine members of TPW.I know there has to be a member here that is much closer than I am, so how about it everyone, or anyone?Respectfully,LarryÂ
November 10, 201114 yr I'll bet his local Volunteer (or regular ) Fire Department guys would be very willing to come to his place and help him.I know the Volunteer Fire Department guys in our small town would love to help if presented that situation..LarryÂ

November 14, 201114 yr Author Alright Charles!!! Great looking lathe man! What a beaut. Now we just gotta get it to work I recognize that stand too! Great to see Wayne Mahler's work is still being utilized. Keep us up to date ok?Charles Nicholls said: Nice to know that someone is there when you need them even if they are about 40 miles away Thanks Arlin for setting that up.  Anyway, even though it is not working just yet, I thought it would be kind of nice to go ahead and post the first of hopefully many pictures involving this new lathe.  As you can clearly tell, the access for the belt is on the end where it needs to be. Currently the 6" tool rest is deployed, but there was a 12" rest included. Plenty of tool rest space for what I need that was a major beef that i had with the old lathe, it only had 1 tool rest which i believe was 8" and some things it was just too short and others it was too long for.  Charles  John MorrisThe Patriot Woodworker
