January 26, 201214 yr put a dehumidifier on it and it will speed it up for sure.  any of the "backyard" kilns work,  all basically the same thing  get hot and keep dry.  if you get too carried away  you can actually shut the outer pores down and "case harden" the lumber, this will not be a issue in a basement for sure though.  if you build a outside kiln and are doing it to save a buck rather than out of love, I promise you will only use it once. I say build a canoe..  that is on my bucket list, cut and mill a  cedar, and build a canoe.  Â
January 26, 201214 yr Author Thanks for the info Michael. I think I will just be patient and wait for it to dry naturally. This lumber would make a beautiful canoe but that is not on my list.                Bobmichael frankhauser said:put a dehumidifier on it and it will speed it up for sure.  any of the "backyard" kilns work,  all basically the same thing  get hot and keep dry.  if you get too carried away  you can actually shut the outer pores down and "case harden" the lumber, this will not be a issue in a basement for sure though.  if you build a outside kiln and are doing it to save a buck rather than out of love, I promise you will only use it once. I say build a canoe..  that is on my bucket list, cut and mill a  cedar, and build a canoe.  Â
