June 27, 201214 yr Make the rank folks! Check your discussion numbers on your "My Page" and let us know if you meet the promotional standards! Last month we did a fun little project that involved designating members profiles with a title reflecting their participation here on The Patriot Woodworker. It is common in social networking, and it's fun! First I'd like to thank John Moody and Ron Dudelston for their help in getting this kicked off. You may have noticed that under your avatars are designations, ranging from Apprentice to Shop Foreman. The structure is as follows. No Designation = 0 - 4 discussions, you need 5 discussions to be hired into a shop! Apprentice = 5 discussions or more Journeyman = 50 discussions or more Carpenter/Machinist = 250 discussions or more Master Carpenter/Master Machinist = 500 discussions or more Shop Foreman/Shop Steward = 1000 discussions or more We have the Machinist in there for our Old Woodworking Machinery folks out there. So, with that, if you feel your due for a promotion, please inquire here within, or contact myself or John Moody at our page to request the promotion. To see if your due for a promotion on The Patriot Woodworker simply to go to your "MY PAGE" and on the left hand column of your page you'll see the number of discussions you have participated in or started. Match those numbers with the ranking above, and let us know if your ready for a promotion! Thank you for being here and thank you for being a member of The Patriot Woodworker! June 28, 201214 yr At 26'' I can mill to 1/8 any wider will have to be 1/2 min. I would suggest a minimum of 1/4 to allow for drying and finishing. What is it you are looking to make? and how wide do you need it? We currently have some blue mahoe 1/4'' bookmatched sets 17x48x1/4 or there about, working off of memory I will measure them if you are interested but they are not cheap at $35 a bf. I also have some red euc it is from a forgetful mill operator (me) and tapers from 1/8 to 2.5'' over 14'. If you have a thickness sander and only need a short pieces you could easily flatten it out. Yours for $2.50 a bf
June 28, 201214 yr Oh! you want luthier wood? I send blocks out to get milled for instruments wood. What sizes do you need?Â
June 28, 201214 yr Hey Robert I don't have my plans with me at the moment so this is off the top of my head.4" x 32" (may vary by up to 1/8") for a total of 8" x 32" with a thickness of 1/8"Â X2 that would make sound broad and back.2" X 32" x 1/8" for sides need 2
June 28, 201214 yr Ok my current stock is for guitar bodies (see attached). I will have to cut some longer blanks and have them resawn. the 2'' and 4'' width makes it much easier yo resaw for sure. Do you have resaw capabilities? If so I could sell you a blank to cut from.
June 28, 201214 yr After seeing them I thinking I may need to make me a new Guitar. The only trouble I have now it witch one... Oh yeah do you cut necks for the body's? I can get Dulcimer wood another time.
