July 27, 201213 yr Per Joe Lyddon's suggestions we tried a new back ground on our site. I know that nice wood grained background was really nice to see, but it ate up a ton of cyber space on TPW and when Joe and I talked about it, we came to the conclusion that it might be hanging folks up and the load rates were much slower with the heavy graphic background. Since I changed it to a solid color, I have been experiencing faster page loads, and faster scrolling, and I have not experienced the jerky scrolling that was pronounced before the change was made. Please drop us some feedback here if you are experiencing a more efficient site usage then with our fancy wood grain background we had. And please tell us of any other issues.I'd like to thank Steven Newman for bringing this to our attention.John MorrisThe Patriot WoodworkerProud Supporter of Wounded Warrior Project and Homes For Our Troops
July 27, 201213 yr Author Joe, I'll give it a try, I like PNG because of the sharpness and quality of the image, I'll give the jpg a try. It might not be noticeable but hopefully the performance will be.Joe Lyddon said:John,Here is a Shot In The Dark...Your large Banner is a PNG type graphic... Â You might try converting it to JPEG and try it... Â Just for kicks...I don't know if it will work or not... July 28, 201213 yr  Running MUCH better right now.    Able to log on in half the time.  Still a little jerky will the scroll wheel thingy.  Don't have to double click on a page to go to it, anymore.   I can live with this.... 'and may the road raise up to meet ye'
July 28, 201213 yr John, I still get a slight jerk in the page loading when switching between pages, it may just be the page positioning itself when loading. It loads high and then drops down into position. It may be that it is loading the top tool bars after the page loads. Otherwise the pages seem to load faster. July 28, 201213 yr John, It is the top two tool bars that are causing the jump when the page loads. I just went to the home page, and the tool bars load after the page loads causing the page to lower into position when the tool bars load. Â Larry Old Woodworking Machinery Forum Host
