July 29, 201214 yr comment_26108 The weave is made from hard maple with cheery bands on each side and the background is purple heart. The dimensions are 16 1/2" X 16 1/2" X 1 5/8" thick. at present it's dry fit. I need to trim a few of the background pieces and then the glue up. I believe this board is more difficult than the 3D cutting board and unless I can devise a better process I doubt I'll build another. The cheery bands are hard to see but should stand out after the finish is applied. I'll post the finished product in a few days with dimensions of the individual pieces If anyone is nuts enough to undertake this project. Report
July 30, 201214 yr comment_26134 Now that is sweet Mike!!!! I love the weave, and i love the bands outside the weaves. SOmeday I'll be nuts enough Mike, please post dimensions! July 30, 201214 yr Author comment_26133 Thanks John! I'll post dimensions when I post the finished board for all of us nuts. I hope the glue up is easier than cutting and laminating the pieces but I doubt it. I was able to glue up the 3D boards in sub assemblies but not with this one. Once I start I'll have do it without stopping so it will be challenging. At the moment I'm out of Tightbond II Extend so I'll have to get some tomorrow and do the glue up. I'm back to work on Tuesday so It may have to wait until the weekend for the glue up. Report

July 30, 201214 yr Author comment_26131 Thanks Lewis! You were the one that pointed me in the right direction. Thanks Joe! That's a clamping board I built for 3D cutting boards I built. Here's the link:http://www.thepatriotwoodworker.com/forum/topics/3d-cutting-board?id=5228218%3ATopic%3A178825&page=1#commentsThe clamping board is on the 2nd page I believe. The cutting mat is on top of the clamping board and the pieces are on top of the mat. Glue doesn't stick to the mat, it works great. Report
July 30, 201214 yr comment_26130 Always amazed at these cutting boards. Makes me wish i had a planer since i already have clamps and a table.Great job Mike! Report

July 30, 201214 yr Author comment_26120 Thanks Greg & Larry. I'll post a "How Done It" sometime this weekend with more info on the steps I used. My process is a little different than Lazy Larry's. Larry has a better set up than I so I had to adjust accordingly. I like his sled and the Magswitches that he uses for stop guides. I found the link for this pattern that he blogged on LJs awhile back. Very interesting  http://lumberjocks.com/degoose/blog/series/4167  check it out, videos and tips. Report
July 31, 201214 yr comment_26119 That is SO beautiful! Is it also functional? I've been hoping to find a bamboo cutting board because I hear they can take some SERIOUS abuse.Jo Report
July 31, 201214 yr comment_26118 Mike, Thanks for asking.  I have bowls ready to turn but have been busy on other projects.  Have another Rocket Racer under construction and a personalized box to finish at the moment.  As soon as I finish these other projects, I will be back to my number one joy - turning bowls.    SQ Mike Dillen said: Thanks Wayne, Cliff & SQ!
