August 20, 201213 yr Sometimes this site is like giving birth, well, I would never really know, but being by my wife's side for all three of our kids coming into the world, I have seen it all and heard it all. And sometimes I feel like that around here. And then there are the days that the stars are just perfectly aligned, the mood is good, the world is at peace, errrr at least our little world here, and I go through the posts and our members profiles and I sit back and think, man we got it good here. Since we are a targeted forum with a targeted interest, we seem to attract the best of the crop. Not saying that other sites aren't as lucky with great members, sure they get a gazillion hits a day, they have a 36,000 membership base, and many of you are on those very same sites providing the same excellent content you provide here for us. But it just seems you all came here for two basic reasons, you guys support our troops, and you love woodworking. That combination seems to attract a select few that personally, I enjoy being around. And I know we are small, and if we stayed small, I'd be fine with that as long as we can keep helping around the country our troops.Tonight I just want to say thanks guys and ladies, for being here. And I do wish we could do more for you guys, I look at other sites and they have a ton of excellent resources, woodworking classes, great "how to" videos, a ton of resources for the woodworker, and I get a little green with envy. Because being a member of our site is not easy, we ask a ton from you guys. From the occasional passing of the hat for money, to participating in Challenge Coin Display builds and helping out with volunteerism. This is not your typical woodworking forum where you guys are the beneficiaries of some great resources. You are asked to contribute to a cause, and you always come through, and each time you do, I aint kiddin guys, at the risk of looking mushy, I have gotten a bit teary eyed when those displays start arriving at our door step, and I pack em up for the Wounded Warriors. This place has effected me personally, and it has had a positive affect on my family here at home. Our kids are understanding the importance of volunteerism, patriotism, sacrifice, and some of that spirit has come to them by witnessing the unselfish acts that are going on right here on our desktop monitor as they peer over my shoulder.I hope you guys have been able to take away a little something from our Patriot Woodworker Community that has benefited you someway in your own lives.I/we are humbled that so many of you call us home.Take care folks and goodnight, and have a most blessed week ahead.John Morris The Patriot Woodworker Proud Supporter of Wounded Warrior Project and Homes For Our Troops
August 20, 201213 yr I am very glade came here, after meeting some of you at FOTMD. I knew I had to come and check it out. I ended up staying and have made lots of new friends. I hope to get to meet a few of them sometime. Thank you for giveing us the great place to come and to meet and share our ideals and the fellowship.http://www.prchestnut.webs.com/
August 20, 201213 yr I have actually been here long enough that I'd be lost without this forum and the people in it. i love seeing new ways to turn wood or combinations of wood , talking with the people here and helping out when I can, monetarily and in spirit. I hope that i can continue to help in any way I can. It is really relaxing to me to see the posts on work that is done here with wood, and sometimes I can only wish I could do as good a job with turning as others. I'll get there some day good lord willing. i only started turning in 2009 so i'm nowhere near perfect. I guess my point here is, that without this forum and it's people, I would not be where I am today, both in mind and in my ability to turn wood objects into something people actually want and enjoy. So here is my own personal thank you to everyone here at The Patriot Woodworker!God BlessCharles NichollsSite Hostnicholls61@att.netProud supporter of The Wounded Warrior Project, Homes For Our Troops and the NRA
August 20, 201213 yr I think in many ways we are as big as the others because of one thing, our Hearts. We have each other and many of those BIG sites don't really have that. We are a cohesive group that supports a great cause and each other in good times and bad. NO SIR THANK YOU JOHN!
August 20, 201213 yr Good Monday Morning John,Well my friend I have been truly very busy and have not been on the forums as much as I want to be to be but I do follow along on the quest of the many who do their part in making these forums what they are today. I remember back when you first started these forum and how I tried in every way I could to help out when ever I could. Well my friend, grab your chair for I am going to do something that will be going not only here in the good old USA but, all around the world for My new radio program will be going live all around the world ecah Saturday morning from 10:30 to 11:00 as the "Art of Woodworking with Ralph Jones" over www.Readyfm.com and at the closing of each program I will be touting the Patriot Woodworker and all the work you do for the Wounded Warrior Project. Hopefully as a result of me doing this hopefully even more folks will get on the band wagon and do their part to support the Patriot Woodworker Forums. Respectfully, Ralph Allen Jones
August 20, 201213 yr Author That's very nice of you Ralph! Thank you for your support and I'll look forward to your show. We can use all the help we can get to get the word out about our site and our causes.Just a heads up Ralph, we have turned our efforts towards Homes For Our Troops these days. We are still in touch with the Wounded Warriors when it comes to our Challenge Coin Displays being shipped out to them. But the bulk of our discussions regarding the troops comes around Homes For Our Troops. For some unknown reason WWP has pulled their social media graphics and fundraising portals and has restricted their use in social media thus making it difficult for us to raise awareness to their cause. Me thinks they have gotten big!So we have turned more of our efforts to Homes For Our Troops and their goal to build adaptive homes for our disabled veterans. If you do mention us Ralph, please put Homes For Our Troops at the top of your discussion. Thank you sir!Ralph Allen Jones said:Good Monday Morning John,Well my friend I have been truly very busy and have not been on the forums as much as I want to be to be but I do follow along on the quest of the many who do their part in making these forums what they are today. August 20, 201213 yr John, What you have created here at The Patriot Woodworker is more than what those other websites have to offer. To quite a few of us here the membership here gives us a feeling of belonging to an extended family, a feeling that those other websites seem to have lost along their way to becoming big. So for this I say Thank You! Larry Old Woodworking Machinery Forum Host

August 21, 201213 yr Author Did you all know our forum hosts were shanghai'd? They did not ask us for the job. We approached them to serve, to help out and help us help or troops. Once approached, they answered the call of duty. And they have done it well.Just goes to show, the American spirit of volunteerism when duty calls is alive and well here in our little world of TPW, we are a microcosm of our own country.John MorrisThe Patriot WoodworkerProud Supporter of Wounded Warrior Project and Homes For Our Troops
August 21, 201213 yr Volunteer you say, somebody started a rumor that we would be rewarded richly, I thought that meant a big fat check  . But I do believe the richest rewards are just being able to live in a country that gives us the freedom to participate in forums such as this without fear of censorship, and making the friends that we have here, even though we may never meet face to face. And being able to do our little parts to help accomplish the mission at hand, as with all groups, everyone who participates contributes to the end result whether they think they do or not. BTW John have you mailed my check yet? John Morris said: Did you all know our forum hosts were shanghai'd? They did not ask us for the job. August 22, 201213 yr Can't really add much to this thread because all the things I feel have already been said. Â Firstly, thank you John for your hard work on the site. Â Thanks to the developers of the application - great stuff. Â Thanks to all the forum hosts for keeping us in line and adding great content. Â Thanks to all the members - without them (us), it would just be another unspecial forum. Â John, those sites with 36,000 base membership doesn't mean squat when it comes to being active in the discussions. Fredaka Pop's Shopwww.pops-shop.comEX-21 (Presently on the floor.
