Friday, September 28th, What's on Your Woodworking Agenda This Weekend?

Featured Replies

Well believe it or not we are three months from Christmas. Wow is that hard to believe or not. Where has this year gone? I hope it has been a productive and learning year for you in the shop and here on The Patriot Woodworker.

So I am working on several projects in the shop this weekend. Got to finish the last sanding on three new cutting boards. Hopefully get the slats for another porch swing run through the planer and ready to assemble and, and, and.... Oh there are so many things I need to get done. I may just wait and tell you Sunday what I actually got finished.

They were getting the windows installed in my parents house yesterday. Last of the work, now we just need a buyer. Put a new roof on, new air conditioner, new 40" range, painted all the way through, professionally cleaned the carpet and now the new Pella windows.

ning-newwindowsinthehouse-23278-98.jpg?wSo I am ready to get it sold and back to working in my shop.

What's on your agenda this weekend? We Patriot Woodworkers want to know about all of your projects. Share with us what you will be making this weekend. Shop time, yard work, wood cutting, home improvement, HDL, or just some good ole R&R. We are interested in what you are doing.

By the way, you need to get your entries in for the Turning Contest. Man those are some very nice Tools that Easy Wood Tools have put up for a prize. Fire up that lathe this weekend and chuck up some nice wood and see what comes out. You never know it might be the big winner and help to raise money for Homes for Troops.

John - the only sawdust I'm going to make this weekend will be on the velocipede.  We have a BIG show right here in my home town.  Setup this afternoon - show times tomorrow is 10AM - 7PM - long day considering last minute setup and changes to the booth my wife likes to make - Sunday 10-5 with tear down, repacking the truck, etc.  At least I don't have to hook up the travel trailer and head for home after this show.

How about the rest of y'all??????????????????

No specific plans for this weekend. Now that I have finished up a few projects, I now have to get started on making my daughter a new headboard for her bed. We still have to sit down with tape measure in hand and deal with her dreams of what she wants and my reality dealing with construction. At our Home Bible Study group last night one of the ladies brought in a part of her spinning wheel and wants me to make her a couple of pegs to support a wheel. She had it refinished and and adjusted by a guy, but in the process of going to and coming from his shop, the two pegs disappeared. It should be pretty easy, but I will have to unbury the lathe to turn them. I haven't turned anything for almost 2 years now, so I have to try and remember where the "Start" button is. :-)

Hey John, I am heading out to Rob Durfos's place to suck up some sawmill dust and check on his latest projects, and I am dropping off some owl boxes my dad made from Rob. I'll report back on the trip to Tule Peak later. I am so glad to see the progress on the folks place John, I know it's been really busy for you these last few months, hang in there ol timer!

I've got 60 bags of insulation in the trailer that I'm planning on blowing into the attic on Saturday.  I can't imagine anything more fun than that.

Well I still have that bowl I am working on, it will be a miracle if I get it done by Monday. I'm working on getting the fine scratches out of it now. the problem is that the more I try to get the scratches out, the more I make.;/

The finest sandpaper I have is 600 grit, so i use that and then I use EEE Ultra shine and a buffing brush since it didn't seem to be working by hand.

Just an update on our show this weekend - temps in the high 70s - overcast skies - show was over at 5PM - rainy mist started about 4PM - packed up in the rain.  All that being said, great crowds and folks actually wanted to part with some $$$.

Well we had a couple look at the house this weekend. Want to bring their parents back to see it. Keep your fingers crossed, we need to get it sold quick.

Finally got to make a run and pick up some maple this weekend. We up to the Amish community and got 500 bf that had bee dried. Then went by another sawyer I use and picked up 400 bf of red cedar. Took it all back to the wood stash and got it stacked. My back is sore today.

Looks like many of you have some nice projects going on. Look forward to seeing some updates.
