December 24, 201213 yr comment_20447 You can get away with 3/4" if it is properly supported underneath. You don't mention the size of your table but the larger it is the greater need for support. I would suggest a minimum of four supports. Front and back, one under the miter slot and one perpendicular to this somewhere toward the middle of the top. Don't forget that sagging can occur in two directions and you want to support both.
