After you make her a nice piece with the band saw, you can trumpet your accomplishment. You'll be a man of note, then.

Hope you get the saw. It's a nice score.

Sorry. I couldn't resist.

Tell her she could use it for cutting up meat.

Hey Ron,

You may be able to use a 1/2" or 5/8" 3 tooth per inch (TPI) blade for resawing. You can get blades as narrow a 1/8" for scrolling. For bandsaw boxes, a 3/16" blade is a good choice. A 3/8" blade is a good all purpose blade.

I told her i was buying a plane and she looked at me astonished and said "You can fly?".

I told her i was buying a dust collection unit for the basement shop.  She said "Why bother? Half of the sawdust is up here!!!"

I saw a few of my plants were drying out on top cause they had no mulch on top to keep the moisture in.

I told her "I'm going to the store to buy mulch for the house plants".

She said "Don't bother" and went into the laundry room and got a bucket half full of sawdust and chips.

"Here use this, it's from your pockets".

Great advice Gene!

There are different sizes, thickness', lengths and TPI for band saw blades.
if you are cutting a lot of thin material, then a high TPI number is appropriate.

Great rule of thumb James! Thin = high tpi, thick = low tpi.

Yes John. It's a rule and should be followed. TPI is very important.

Well,  what if you hope  someday to join a band.

You can't wait till you  do to start practicing.

Congrats with the new band saw Ron, you really must have made a great compromise, you making her nice cabinets and stuff for the new kitchen and she allowing you to get the band saw. Way to go!

To know but not to do is not yet to know.
