About This File

This is a scanned document of the now defunct Workbench Magazine of this era. Permission was granted by the new Workbench Publication for The Patriot Woodworker community to copy and use the old Workbench Magazine at our pleasure, and for free distribution and re-use.

This lively little craft is ideal for the home-shop ship builder because construction is reduced to its simplest terms and the cost of materials is absolutely rock bottom. A11 planking is 1/4-in. plywood, and with a fiberglass-cloth finish, exterior grade plywood can be used, being much less expensive than marine stock.
