Archive Resurrections (Satisfied and Closed)

John, I see that you are bringing up old topics from the archives.  This is a great idea, as nothing is really new for the most part, and it also shares info from members who are no longer active for one reason or another.  My suggestion is to have some kind of notification on the first post of an old topic to let us know immediately that it is an old post.  An icon, addition to the title line, or something similar.  I know the date of the original post is displayed, but it is kind of grayed out, it's on every post, not just the new or resurrected posts, and human nature being what it is, we tend to ignore those after awhile.  Whatcha think?

Good idea Tom, when I bring a topic up from the archives though I do add a post to it stating I brought it up from the archives, so the last post you'll see says it's from the archives. I am hesitant on adding anything to the title, I am trying to just bring the older ones up to blend in to the live forums. A symbol could be a possibility, that is a great idea. I'll see what I can do!

What do you mean, nothing is really new? Thanks Tom. :)

What I meant was that most of the questions we are likely to see have probably already been asked and answered, so bringing up old topics and posts can provide valuable information before someone like me realizes we don't know something.  And that brings up another question.  When we search, does the software search the archives also, or only the active topics and posts?

Thanks for clarifying Tom. Yes, the search is for the entire community. Archives included.

Tom, per your suggestion, we are now adding the tag, "archives" to the topic when we bring it up, so there will be some indication that the topic is brought up from Archives, thanks Tom.

Thanks John.  I think this will prevent some confusion.

Great Tom, and it's a great suggestion and thanks for bringing it up! This issue is closed. Big gavel slamming down on a wood surface sound here.:)
