Here at PWW and other places, veterans get a lot of recognition for their service. However, have you noticed that civilian women rarely get any, if at all? During WWII and later wars, women filled many important roles in supporting the war effort beyond managing the home front. My Mom worked in aircraft repair at Hill AFB. My wife's Mom assembled artillery shells in Ontario, Canada. Many women worked in the Red Cross providing medical care. When the war ended, the returning men displaced the women from many jobs. We are all family. I think some recognition for their supportive service would be good. hat
