    Time at the "Sharpening Bench"

Since I am currently between Projects...might as well get things ready for the next Project.... The Sharpening Bench? Is a spot on the Kitchen Countertop, right beside the Kitchen Sink....as I use water stones now a days... First up..a Shelton No.9...Had lots of issues..but the iron needed a bit of work done.... Frog bolts were not even snugged up...Frog set way too far back Edge of the iron? Not the best..kind of rolled up...we have ways.. First stone..a 280 grit....followed by.. The 1000 grit Blue Stone...there is also 1500 grit stone...and finally.. The 6000 grit stone...I also made sure the chipbreaker sat gap free ( couple of whacks with a hammer to lower a bumped up center..) assemble things up.. BTW..the back of this iron was NOT flat...it is now...this was before the iron even saw the stones...one other issue.. That bolt-thingy that the wheel is supposed to turn on? Well, it was turning along with the wheel...removed the bolt, monged up the threads a bit, oil & Pliers to get it back into place...run the wheel back and forth to make sure the bolt stay put. Test Track is about the same as Mr. Cosman uses...mine isn't as large, though...but it is the same Clear Soft Maple he uses.. Took a couple trips to get the depth set up just right... Good enough for the Girls I run around with... Stay tuned...More irons to sharpen..
