John Morris Administrator November 6, 20223 yr Author stats Very interesting, are these offcuts from another project, or do you have a end game with these? Worthy of storing for a rainy day, that's for sure!
Woodman Members November 6, 20223 yr Author stats Hi John. I make parquet by the block, crosscut it both thick and thin, and use the pieces for trinket box bases. Some come out better than others, but I'm getting better at it. The best ones are glued one later at a time with scraping / planing between layers are necessary. I aim for random placement but sometimes modify the square rods to achieve that "arranged by chance" look. Shortly I'll begin a more ambitious block; choice wood, resawn close to the pith, has been sectioned to length. Sorted, examined, & test-fit. Parq No. 6 will get full photo treatment.
