February 2, 201313 yr Yes I have entered the contest for the title of world's least inventive router circle jig. Any one ever think to replace the word jig with another single syllable word that starts with J? I can't be the only person to have thought of that either. Any way here are my entries, judge accordingly: in this pic the board is upside down but you get the gist I'm sure. I made these adorable little T slot bolt thingies Well that is Entry #1. It's for cutting larger-ish circles Here is the glorious entry #2 made from maple scrap I found in the off cut heap nest to my saw. It is for smaller circles. I made some stock up like this: Then I made some stock up like this: They were cut out on the TS. The blade was canted off at some unknown angle. Hardly matters what angle as the cuts all were made at the same setting. I cur them up so they fit together like so: and like so: One end gets glued and bolted together. The thing is pretty easy to set. I use a caliper like a depth gauge and can work to very exacting tolerances After glue up I ran it across a jointer and through the planer to get all the surfaces on the same exact plane. The bolt (1/4-20 all-thread really) on the glue up end is to prevent the bolt at the other end from popping the glue joint apart. The bolt on the right hand side in the pics (seen in the two at the top and the one above this text) is to tighten the two little arms squeezing the sliding block with the locating pin back and forth.
