Finished up the platter, little bowl, some wine bottle stoppers and some wine glass displays.

Not being a wine drinker, I really goofed when I made the wine glass holders! Went to the cupboard and got the wine glasses with the largest bowl so the spacing would not hit the side of the wine bottle. I didn't realize that different wine glasses would have different diameter stems. I sized the slots to easily fit these stems- 3/8". Now I realize that other glasses might have thicker stems. I guess who ever gets the holders will have to buy glasses that fit- or use the holder to wind up kite string.

Thanks for looking!

I know I have said this before, but I am really itching to get a lathe, been looking at the Laguna 16/43, it provokes my senses. It looks sooo fun.

That or one like it would be my choice too John. The ability to turn outboard peaks my interest for sure. Maybe some day :)

That's a beauty, John, and the price looks good, too. I paid a little over $600 for the Delta Iron Bed which has a 12" swing and a little over 36" length. That was at least 10 years ago. This one is larger and more powerful. I see it uses the same speed controlling mechanism as the Delta. I have found that this mechanism is a little noisy, compared to other systems but not objectionable. I like the legs they supply. A LOT nicer than the bent sheet metal legs that came with the Delta. Something that is nice to have- but not a deal breaker- is a head spindle index lock. I don't see one listed. These can be easily made.

Because you build furniture, I would consider this size lathe over a Mini/Midi. Once you have this size, you can do just about any turnings- legs, spindles, bowls. Anything fat/skinny or long/short.

Fantastic pieces they are Lew! Like the shape of amazing bowls and the awesome bottle stoppers. The finish really made the wood grain and patterns pop out.
