February 11, 201313 yr Good Afternoon, Gentlemen! I am restoring a 16" Walker Turner Band Saw and need only the motor bearings to complete it. Does anyone have a souce? My local Dallas bearing house has something close, but not wide enough. One is an SKF No. 655181 and the other is marked FL-15 C. One of these two was replaced, I think, as the end of the motor was missing the felts that wick oil into the bearing. The bearing marked FL-15 C measures 15 mm ID, 1.382 OD, and .495 wide. The SKF is .625 ID, 1.377 OD, and .495 wide. Thanks very much! Don Hoke (972) 955-7614

February 12, 201313 yr Author Thanks, Larry!I have a call into them already this morning. The day's job is finding the motor bearings and felts. I may just go to JoAnn's Fabrics and buy some felt and make some if no one has them in stock. I also have about five different bearing houses in Dallas I have yet to check. Thanks very much for your help!Don HokePS I'd really like to share the Veterans Coalition of North Central Texas discount program with you. Who is the best person with whom to communicate about this? I was at the Metal Supermarket a week ago and had given Tony, the counter man, a VCNCT discount card a few weeks earlier. His wife had a $130.00 prescription and he used the card and paid $13.00 at a major chain drug store. He was pretty excited about saving $117.00. Anyone can use this program. Please feel free to chop this off my reply.
February 12, 201313 yr Donald, sounds like you have a wonderful project going on! I am still trying to find time to restore my Walker Turner Drill Press.I actually got much further along then pics in that post show. I cannot locate my post with my progress shots. Maybe Larry can track it down in this forum.Donald, if there are any discounts that can be passed on to our Vets, please feel free to share the information. You may want to start a dedicated post to the issue in the Free For All Forum so it gets the attention it deserves with a proper eye catching title. If you have information leading to the acquisition of discount prescription cards with those kinds of savings, please do share, our vets need all the help they can get. Thank you Donald.Donald R. February 13, 201313 yr Nice looking saw, Walker Turner used odd sized bearings. You will most likely NOT find a direct replacement in todays sizes. However, you can go to Walker Turner Serviced Machinery and but NOS bearings. They are the ONLY supplier for original WT bearings and parts. The owner bought what was left of WT and is holding them hostage for ransom. They are located at:Walker-Turner Serviced Machinery, LLCP.O. February 14, 201313 yr Author Dear Ken:Thanks for the note on bearings. Yes, someone advised me to talk to the folks in Coventry. They did not have the bearings, so I bought bearings with the same ID and OD but a bit thinner. The bearing house also sold me shims to keep the bearings in the right place. You're right, the original OEM size is not available unless one got very lucky.I bought bearings with metal protective shields on both sides. The bearing house salesman removed the shield from one side of each bearing and suggested I clean out the grease with carburetor cleaner, then reinstall the felt wicks and oil with high grade mineral oil. If the felts arrive from California on Friday or Saturday, I should have a functioning band saw by the weekend. Thanks to everyone for all your help.Very best wishes!Don HokeKen Rasmussen said:Nice looking saw, Walker Turner used odd sized bearings. February 14, 201313 yr Don, I had a feeling that you might have needed to go the route of using a thinner bearing and thrust shims. There are a few Delta machines that are the same way when it comes to finding replacement bearings. They also used an extended race bearing. My Delta Specialty Co. bandsaw is kind of an oddball. It uses a bicycle type ball bearing that hasn't been available since the early 1960's. I ended up having to rebuild the bearings with new balls, and cleaning up the remaining parts. February 14, 201313 yr Author Good Morning, Larry! Here is a link to the Veterans Coalition of North Central Texas free discount pharmacy card. http://www.NBDrugCard.com/DrugCard.aspx?ID=VCNCT Click on it, enter your first and last names, your email address, and your state. then hit enter and your card will appear. Print a copy - or lots of copies. The card is active (no registration), never expires, and can be used by anyone an unlimited number of times. This is a discount program, NOT INSURANCE! Here is how to use your card: Present the card to your pharmacist along with your prescription and ask the pharmacist to run the card along with any insurance you may have. Have the pharmacist put the code into his or her computer, so it will automatically run every time you fill a prescription. The card guarantees you the lowest price that day for that drug at that pharmacy. Every time anyone anywhere uses a VCNCT card, the Veterans Coalition earns $1.00. There are also free discounts on imaging, lab work, and hearing aids. Questions? Call the toll free number on the card 800-800-7616. The Dallas call center is opened six days per week. Visit http://www.rxpricequotes.com to find the cheapest drug in your neighborhood. Simply enter your drug and your zip code and see what each local pharmacy is charging that day. You'll be amazed at the differences! Lots of non-profits use this program including libraries, food banks, museums, social service agencies, etc. Please let me hear about your success stories in saving money on prescription drugs. Very best wishes!
