February 15, 201313 yr I have been in contact with Lt Fallon the past few days, awaiting in anticipation along side him for his new SawStop to arrive that was donated to him via 3 anonymous donors and we cannot forget our member Nate Meadows who helped bring the donors and Lt Fallon together. It arrived at his door yesterday! Lt Fallon, we are so happy for you sir. And, we can also see in the background that he has been using the PS Woodmachine Scroll Saw that was donated by our own member Mike Dillen. I see a project on the table of that scroll saw! I cannot tell you how proud I am of our little woodworking community. And I cannot tell you how grateful I am to the folks who showed up, and donated to our Marines shop. I wish I was there to help the LT put this bad boy together. So with out further adieu, Lt Fallon with his SawStop and a great picture of his scroll saw in the background. The LT told me when this is all wrapped up, he is going to take closer pictures of all the items he received through this effort, and we'll post them here. Thank you for your service LT. February 15, 201313 yr Congratulations on the great new saw. Humm I was hoping one of those would mystically appear in my shop. I've tried standing in the shop and singing the jingle, "Like a Good Neighbor" but it hasn't worked yet.Look forward to seeing some great projects Lt.Have fun!!John MoodySite AdministratorJohn Moody Woodworkshttp://www.johnmoodywoodworks.com

February 18, 201313 yr An excellent addition to your growing woodshop. We replaced an aging Unisaw with a Saw Stop in the community woodshop were I work just a couple of weeks ago. I am pleased with the saws performance as well as its fit-and-finish. Several patrons to the woodshop say "It looks like a race car!" The added degree of personal safety the Saw Stop brings to your shop should bring you piece of mind.Happy woodworking, georgeMaking sawdust...and enjoying every minute of it....
February 18, 201313 yr Author Folks, thanks for your wishes, on behalf of Lt Fallon, he is completely overjoyed with how his shop is coming along. And I also want you to know, that you may be wondering where he is in all this, why he is not on here participating. Our site is extremely hard to navigate for a site challenged person, it plays havoc with his text to voice recognition software, otherwise he would be on here himself. We do talk on the phone, and it's always a joy to here his excitement and he is thankful beyond belief. Once his shop is together, he will take photos and send them all in and we'll get them all up on our site!George Anderson said:An excellent addition to your growing woodshop. We replaced an aging Unisaw with a Saw Stop in the community woodshop were I work just a couple of weeks ago. I am pleased with the saws performance as well as its fit-and-finish. Several patrons to the woodshop say "It looks like a race car!" The added degree of personal safety the Saw Stop brings to your shop should bring you piece of mind.Happy woodworking, georgeMaking sawdust...and enjoying every minute of it....John MorrisThe Patriot WoodworkerProud Supporter of Homes For Our Troops and Wounded Warriors Project
February 18, 201313 yr Hi John. Is there a way to make the site less Sight challenging? I myself am thinking probably not, but just wanted to get this up so that you and others on the site may have some ideas to accomplish it. If he knows that there is a "Forum" button and then what options are available to him after that, then it may be possible for him to participate in discussions. I however am not up on the latest voice software so I am unclear as to how to help further.Charles NichollsSite Hostnicholls61@att.netProud supporter of The Wounded Warrior Project, Homes For Our Troops and the NRAhttp://www.etsy.com/shop/nichollswoodworks
February 18, 201313 yr Author Great question Charles, no not really, a site is either good for the non sighted or not. Please go to the link below and see what a non sighted woodworking site looks like, and you'll get an idea of what they need to function on a site. Also to nip it in the bud before folks start to wonder why doesn't he get someone to post for him, sight challenged folks like Timothy don't do that, they either do it on their own, or not at all, it's the way it is and I can see why it has to be that way. Kind of a tough love thing.Woodworking For The BlindCharles Nicholls said:Hi John. Is there a way to make the site less Sight challenging? February 18, 201313 yr OK I see, and it is exactly as I was thinking. We have image buttons to click and navigate whereas the Sight Friendly page has links to click on. The voice recognition software apparently does not recognize the buttons that have words on them, but instead looks for actual Links that have the word within it. Our site would basically have to go through a complete redesign in order to be sight friendly. Oh yes being in a military fami;ly myself, I was always taught to find a way to do it yourself or not at all so it does not surprise me at all that Lt. Fallon isn't participating other than by phone.I do remember at one point though that we had a way to speak through a microphone on the site, but I don't know if we still have that option or if the LT. has a mic or not.John Morris said:Great question Charles, no not really, a site is either good for the non sighted or not.
