February 19, 201313 yr comment_16768 My son saw a facebook post this morning from a lady wanting to give away a pecan tree that was already down. She said this was the second time she posted this and no takers. He sent me a message about it and told me where it was and I sent him one back and said, "tell her I will come get it today!" So yes, right after work we are loading this up to get it to the saw mill and add to the other stack of Pecan. One piece is 10' and the other one is 22'. About 24" at the base. They cut all the small stuff up and saved it for BBQ smoking. All we have to do is load and go. I post some pictures when I get is back from the mill. February 20, 201313 yr Author comment_16771 Thanks guys for allowing me my wood gloats. John, it was cut about a month ago so it is going to be pretty green. Hard as it can be. The owners said it was not producing any eatable pecans and was dropping small limbs all the time and they want to put in a pool so it had to come down. So we got four logs about 8 1/2' long. The but end was around 24" I think. No rot it any of the logs and the two end cuts are good and clear, no knots. So looking forward to daylight savings time. I was dark by the time I got off work and we got them back to the barn. Unloaded in the dark and it was only 6:00pm. Can't wait to see this but up. I am going to have them cut a couple of 12/4 pieces and some 8/4 then the rest in 4/4. John MoodySite AdministratorJohn Moody Woodworkshttp://www.johnmoodywoodworks.com Report

February 21, 201313 yr comment_16769 That pecan should be a breeze coming in at 1800 on the Janka hardness scale. The blood-wood I used for my kitchen comes in at 2900. Red Oak is 1290.Somewhere in Kenya.... a village is missing its idiot! Alaskans for Gobble Warming Report
