February 21, 201313 yr While at my customers home this past Sunday, I took some pics of some really cool planes he has, he collects old woodworking tools and many other forms and shapes of antiques. He has a beautiful collection in his home. His hand plane collection is in the 100's I think, and they are all wood planes as you see here. A wonderful brace at the left, a beautiful level at the bottom, a nice radi plane in the center, a block radi plane at the top right, and the stair saw at the far right. The plane in the rear, I am not sure what it is called, perhaps some one here can help with that. Now this next plane is a huge Filister Plane or Molding Plane, I do not know what it was used for, but it was absolutely beautiful. It's the longest hand plane I have ever seen, and my daughter wanted me in the picture, so sorry folks about that ol ugly mug in what otherwise would have been a great picture. Thanks for looking folks, it was a great time at my friends home, John Morris The Patriot Woodworker Proud Supporter of Homes For Our Troops and Wounded Warriors Project
February 21, 201313 yr That handled plane in the back is more of a two person plane. One uses the bars to pull the plane, and a secound person is the controler/pusher.     Might have seen a relative in the latest "Planing Competitions" over in Japan.  I have seen one other plane that long, belongs to DonW over at LJs.   His is a 72" long cooper's plane, though. ps:  Get haircut, Ta-roop!  Getting a might shaggy, are we? Of course, some say I should wear this kind of hat aka: El Bandito.... Planer? I'm the 'planer', and these are what I use...
