February 26, 201313 yr When I was a young boy, about 14, I would help my older brother in his tree trimming  business. I would  collect brush and help clean up.  Once while helping, my brother cut down a tree about 10 to 14"  in dia. It was oval shaped and not too high. He cut it down in sections and the stump was left in place to cut from about 6' high. His first cut, at that point, fell to the ground and I was surprised when he quit and shut down his saw. He called over the rest of the guys and pointed at that stump.  It was actually made up of two limbs that had grown together and someone had placed a golf ball in between the two limbs. My brother had cut through the exact center of the golf ball. I wanted to keep it, but he wasn't interested and it went with the rest of the wood to be given away for fire wood.If I had it now, it would make a great gift for woodworking golfer  :-)

February 28, 201313 yr That' pretty cool Ron, is it possible someone hit the golf ball and it landed in the "Y" of the tree and lodged itself? I like that story better Those are neat finds, I posted a photo here a week ago of a bullet cut in half on my table saw that was in my store bought maple. I cut the bullet right in half and shiny lead half was exposed, pretty cool. Thanks for sharing Ron.
