February 27, 201313 yr Frank Byers of Woodcraft wrote a nice blog about their newest addition to the WoodRiver family , the shoulder plane, or as Jerrill states, a tenoning plane, as I always thought it should be called too! Shoulder Plane? You don't trim shoulders with it, you work the tenons, funny right?Follow this link to a great write up and blog.WoodRiver Shoulder Plane ReviewJohn MorrisThe Patriot WoodworkerProud Supporter of Homes For Our Troops and Wounded Warriors Project
February 27, 201313 yr I have been wondering about this plane. It would be nice to read a review somewhere besides Woodcraft's site. How was the planes finish compared to premium planes? Was the sole perfectly flat? Were the sides square to the sole? Hopefully, a magazine will do an unbiased review. Until then, I will stick with my LN. February 28, 201313 yr Nice looking plane. The shoulder plane is one specialty tool I (barely) resist buying. I read a quote from Frank Klausz when asked why he didn't use a shoulder plane. " I cut to the line" I read that and thought challenge excepted. Good, Better, Best never let it restTill your Good is Better and your Better is Best.
