March 13, 201313 yr For myself, didn't get a lot of lathe work in during the past week. I did finish sanding the spindles, for the crib, and have the sides assembled. The soft pine is a pain to work, it dents and splits so easily. The Woodturning OnLine Newsletter came earlier this week. As always, it is packed with great information! For the beginning turner, there are links to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VBW88u8cJ3w&feature=share&list=UUOXBtgBVAAro9pyp4Q5_3lQ on the correct stance when using various turning tools. As for turning projects, a nice little turned jewelry box- The instructions are easy to follow and very detailed. Also, in the newsletter, is a project posted once before here in "Wednesday's....". It's from Mr. David Reed Smith. His shop made cone sander is a handy accessory for bowl turning but would work great on just about any non-flat project. How was your week? Make any lathe projects? March 13, 201313 yr No lathe projects for me this week Lew although I have several I need to do. I am working on a couple of other things right now.I like the cone sander. That could be very useful indeed. Those cradles are really looking good. You did a fine job on those spindles.John MoodySite AdministratorJohn Moody Woodworkshttp://www.johnmoodywoodworks.com
March 14, 201313 yr Just this little box completed finally that i had been trying to get finished, It's hard though when you have a bunch of nurses and doctors trying to tell you that you are not allowed to sit for more than a couple hours a day. This is to keep pressure off some sores I have. I remind them that I am the only one here, i have no wife or girlfriend to help with anything so until one of them wants to volunteer that service, or know someone who does, to leave me alone about it. I do what I can but that isn't always what is needed or wanted, it's just the best I can do. They usually don't say much after that. Anyway, while i can i am going to go lay down and i'll chat with you all later. Peace.
