This time it was ebay's turn.    bought a little #4 sized plane.    The fellow dropped it off on his way home from work, no less!    Points for the Feedback score.   made up for other items.   Ok, a look at this thing after I tore it downning-sdc14538-15802-21.jpg?width=750Look long at that red froggie, it has a story to tell.   I did get all of the bolts cleaned up, using a wire wheel in my drill press.ning-sdc14539-15802-57.jpg?width=750Yep, that is a Millers Falls type of front knob.    Still not sold on that Primer gray lever cap, though.  A look at it all back together, after less than an hour's work?ning-sdc14541-15802-75.jpg?width=750handles need a touch-up of black paint.    This was, at one time a Decal wearing plane.    Decal had a big red "V" logo, and it was called a Value line plane.    Decal is long gone,  and I think that gray painted lever cap will get an extreme make over.   Oh, about that frog..ning-sdc14531-15802-15.jpg?width=750Nice cracks!   And, they go all the way through.    What is holding things together, I have no idea.     I might try some JB Weld, to hold things together.  Right now, this is a "Non stress zone" until I can fix the cracked parts.  ning-sdc14543-15802-76.jpg?width=750To be continued...

Some nice shavings. You got to wonder how those cracks got there.

This plane isn't all that old,    Black handled "V" line planes were made in the early 60s.  This one would have been labled a "900" Value Line plane.     Millers Falls was on the  way out, about this time.      They did hang around until the mid 80s.     This one was machined on the sole and edges, so it was about the early 1960-63 era.

As for the cracked frog?    might have been dropped at one time?   maybe someone used a hammer to adjust the lateral?  Who knows?     I can get nice thin shavings out of this plane, with just a simple Stone & Sandpaper Routine for sharpening.

Two planes bought, so far this season.   Both seem to need a little TLC to get back to being useful.    Looking good, so far....
