March 18, 201313 yr So this weekend I was working on several projects, which right there is a problem. But I was routing some dovetails in the panels for a new cedar chest. So after running them through the drum sander, they were ready to cut the dovetails in the ends. Usually I will chalk the corners so I make sure I have the chalk mark toward me and thus the tail will be cut in the correct direction. So here I am on the last panel using my dovetail jig just routing away. I got all of the panels done and was in the process of doing a dry fit when I realized, Houston, we have a problem. So this corner and the one on the other side look good, nice fit. This corner fits, but what's the matter with that other side? When I flipped the panel I turned it instead of rotating it end for end. So the tails are cut in different directions. So I will be gluing up another panel and focusing on re-cutting these. I guess I'll make a smaller chest and cut these off one end and make another end that size and use that way. Just can't do it on the one I am working on. Oh well it happens. March 20, 201313 yr John I agree with you and Gene. Was setting up a black walnut bookcase for a commission job. Cut the dado's in the wrong places for the shelves. I really need to mark these things in the proper sequence and sides. The hurried I go the farther behind I get. March 20, 201313 yr Author I know what you mean Wayne. When pressed for time, making mistakes only takes more time. Instead of slowing down and marking it, now I got to spend more time working on it. But that is okay and we all make mistakes at times.Good to see you online, hope all if going well with you.John MoodySite AdministratorJohn Moody Woodworkshttp://www.johnmoodywoodworks.com
