March 21, 201313 yr I know that quite a few of us sell our wares at craft shows and festivals.  Judy and I go to only juried shows now.  We find that the quantity and quality of products in these shows are much above the standard "street fairs" where you have to compete with stuff from (shall we say) overseas.  Not truely handcrafted items.  Juried shows mean just that - you must show your "stuff" to a jury and they decide whether your "stuff" is good enough or varied enough to be in their show.  Yes, we have been turned down several times - that being said - by being persistent year after year, we finally got in most of the ones we were after - letting the good times roll.  You see, customers also know that they are seeing quality handcrafted products and not cheap stuff.  For several years, we looked for places to find shows.  Tried a couple of different places.  We are now members of the Festival Network Online.  They have great quality shows (over 23,000 of them annually) and you can search with just about any criterea you can think of.  Yes, it costs $40 a year BUT our increase in sales has more than covered the cost.  You can also set up your own web page that shows who you are, where you are, and what you do.  You can send an "EPK"  (Electronic Press Kit) to a prospective promoter right from the show's page - a great advantage.  NO - I do NOT work for FNO.  Just trying to get the word out to help our members get more exposure. I'm just a believer.  Check 'em out and see what you think.  Tell us what you think as well.  Click the info pix below.  Fredaka Pop's Shopwww.pops-shop.com'Soooooo many patterns - sooooo little time'Scroll Saw Forum Host

March 23, 201313 yr Hey Fred here is one I am looking at for this fall. I hope to be able to get in but I don't know yet. It was recommended to me by a person on the committee that saw my work at another show last year. At that time it was too late for me to get in according to the person that was telling me about it but told me to apply this year. You might want to give it a try if you can and if I get there too maybe we can meet up. It is in Tuscaloosa, Al.John MoodySite AdministratorJohn Moody Woodworkshttp://www.johnmoodywoodworks.com
