March 28, 201313 yr Mike, I have a DeWalt and it has been a great one. Here's a piece of advice. My biscuit joiner (like some other tools of mine) came from eBay. If you don't mind buying a tool that has been gently used then you can get some really good buys there. Hope this helps.Ron DudelstonSite AdministratorAbove and Beyond WoodWorks
March 28, 201313 yr First let me say welcome to TPW. I've owned the Dewalt since the first day they came on the market and have been very pleased. If you plan on building cabinets and don't want to use pocket screws, it's a great tool. I tried The slot cutter that is used in aa router and hated it. There are many biscuit cutters and most are of good quality. I would not buy the Fesstool as they are way over priced. Good luck.EAGLES MAY SOAR BUT WEASELS DON'T GET SUCKED INTO JET ENGINES!

March 28, 201313 yr Michael, I have a Craftsman I have had for years. Not that I would recommend them now, but mine works really good and I have no problems with it. Craftsman has certainly changed over the years and many of the tools are not as good as they once were.John MoodySite AdministratorJohn Moody Woodworkshttp://www.johnmoodywoodworks.com
March 28, 201313 yr Mike,Mine is one of the very first Porter-Cable models. It has been a real work horse.Look for an easily adjustable fence. The fence should adjust for both thickness of stock and any angles on end cuts- like a mitered end. The mitered end fence should "trap" the work piece to hold it securely when plunging in the cutter. Adjustments should be accomplished without the aid of additional tools (wrenches/allen wrenches). These are all characteristics my Porter-Cable does NOT have. Also, look for a model that has presets for the different sized biscuits.Lew Kauffman-Wood Turners Forum HostTime traveler. Purveyor of the world's finest custom rolling pins!

March 30, 201313 yr In my view there is only one to consider I have had my Festool for 8 years and the recently introduced small cutter allows for very small joins on this wood. Hope this helps Chris
