March 31, 201313 yr I got to tell you all that the new small gravity feed spray gun from Lowe's worked great. I got two coats of stain on the pulpit, four coats of Shellac and three coats of General Finishes Enduro Var. The gun worked great and the pattern, adjustments and spray patterns were excellent. So here is the new Pulpit with me and the Pastor of the church. And me with the Pulpit. The Pulpit! So I made the dead line and got it built, finished and installed before Easter. I know I had no spare time left but I did make the dead line. There are some other pictures of the process in the Friday post over the past several weeks. April 1, 201313 yr Very nicely done John! Last week you were asking about the use of dyes. Did you use dye on this project? EAGLES MAY SOAR BUT WEASELS DON'T GET SUCKED INTO JET ENGINES!

April 2, 201313 yr Author Mike I did not use the dye on this project. I did order it for this one, but the dye that I got in was too red for where it was going and I didn't have time to order a darker color and play with it. I did like the dye when I used it to make up the sample board and I wish I could have used it here as I believe it would have let the grain of the Cherry show through better. I do plan on using the dyes in the future and I will use the one I got, it just didn't fit with the brown decor that was already there. Thanks Greg, but that is not the natural place for me. Here is where I am the most natural. But even this is my "Farewell Tour". I am going to retire from playing the drums in the Praise Band at church on my birthday next year. That way I can maybe have a come back tour for a little while before I get to where I can't play them at all. LOL I have been playing since I was in nine years old. Fifty years of drumming. Thanks again for all the wonderful comments. You guys are the best. Mike Dillen said: Very nicely done John! Last week you were asking about the use of dyes.
