Here's a Great Product

Featured Replies

This post could have gone under Tools but here goes.  As you know I've been contem, plating the purchase of two new feed rollers for my Delta planer.  I went to order them the other day and there's a 6 week order backlog because Delta is moving their warehouse.  The guy I talked to told me about a product to try that rejucinates rubber.  It is called RUBBER RENUE and is used primarilary for restoing platens in printing equipment.  I order a bottle of it for about $10 with shipping and product and it came today.  I cleaned the rollers with mineral spirits to get the dust off and then wiped this stuff on.  The rollers are soft and tacky again.  I am pleased and amazed.

Thanks for the lead on this, Ron.

It must be something similar to what we used to use on phonograph turntable drive wheel. Dated myself there, didn't I!!

Sounds like a great product.

I did a search online and found a lot of good things said about it. A lot of folks using it for the rubber rollers/wheels on their printers that were jamming and this corrected it. I will have to order some for my Ridgid planer as well as for my printers.

Here is the link to it on Amazon

Just ordered myself a bottle - going to use it on my planer, printers (3), reel to reel tape recorder, 8-track, cassette players (3), and the phonograph.  Should be able to these jewels back up in working condition and trassfer some of that good ole music I have into digital format to enjoy anywhere without having to rig up the shop with all kinds of old electronic gear.

Thanks for the insight, Ron.  This is a product that should really work with all kinds of different items.

Doggone you, Allen. Your link just made it way too easy. :-)

And, Amazon brought up my wish list, too. That $12.47 bottle of rubber renew just ballooned to $90.00.

When the CC bill gets here, I'll likely be banned from using the computer.

The stuff is

wintergreen oil (synthetic)

Acetone and Xylene

I can't imagine how it does what it does.

Maybe it dissolves a little off the surface?

I still have my Denon turntable.  Doesn't get much use these days though.

I was never able to tell how Vinyl was supposed to be so much better.

Textural they say while trying to look profound.  Yah sure I'm thinking  defects in the plastic grooves  is what that is.

Or maybe I'm just deaf.

Hey~!! It's a hobby~!! It's not supposed to make sense.

Cliff, the stuff is slick when you wipe it on but within a minute the rubber is tack.

Thanks for the post. Ordering a bottle for my rigid planer and printer. I guess if I admitted knowing all the other products I would date myself also. Whats worse if I probably have some of them laying around the house in a box someplace. Thanks again.

God bless and protect our troops that serve so we can be free.

I know not of this tape or phonograph you speak of! I'm not near that old!

Humm the rollers on PB are not rubber. I'll have to see about getting a printer.
