April 11, 201313 yr  All of that Hand tool vs Roughsawn Lumber posts are for one thing.   Working up a plan for a "Vermont Lap Desk" out of that Ash I have been working to get smoothed down. Looking like about 16" ( or so ) wide, by 13" or so deep.   Front rail has a cutout to it, and the sides have one as well.I'll have to re-build a "Hollows" molding plane, to make a pencil groove.  Working at figuring some angles for the top, and where it connects to the lid.  This MIGHT take awhile...Planer? I'm the 'planer', and these are what I use...
